My boyfriend starting taking this 10 days ago for Bronchitis and Tonsillitis. He was prescribed two a day for 10 days.
Before he started taking the medicine he had already been vomiting for a day before being prescribed to it. He continued vomiting for the first few days after and I assumed it was not from the medicine cuz he had already been vomiting before. A few days into the meds he was not getting better and only getting worse and got a fever. I took him to the ER and the doc said to keep taking the medicine and he would give him anti nausea meds. Even after taking the anti nausea/vomiting meds.. he continued vomiting. The vomiting eventually stops after a few days and then from there on out he still was not getting better. He complained about difficulty breathing and he can hardly eat anything and is coughing constantly. He said his throat feels like its an 1/2 inch wide and he chokes when he trys to eat something that is solid. He has been having severe neck cramps, headaches and upset stomach.
Finally on his very last day taking sulfameth he came to my house and i noticed his skin looked red. 20 minutes taker he had rashes and hives all over his body.
I don't know how often this medicine is prescribed or maybe people only write reviews when they have a bad reaction to it but from what it seems I would stay away from this medicine unless you know for sure you are not allergic to it.

My daughter was prescribed Bactrim for acne, after taking it for a3 month
period, she experienced changes that I can only describe as life changing.
From an A student at school who has always been so happy and vibrant,
to someone I didn't know. She suffered from depression, anxiety, irrational thoughts, sleeplessness, loss of appetite, headaches, the list goes on and on. Since stopping the medication she has had good days and bad days, I pray for the day she will return to her beautiful self and not be tormented by this horrible drug. If just one person reads this and thinks twice about taking
this drug, it will have been worth it.

I was prescribed Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim for a sinus infection. After taking it for 3 days I felt worse than I had felt the entire month of feeling sick. I had weird dreams, chills , cold sweats, headaches ( where the headaches weren't before) little sleep but super tired and very bad nausea . I quite taking it the next morning and felt extremely nauseous, sore from shaking all night , emotional and fatigue. So glad I found this website. I felt like I was losing it.

I had a stye/ staff infection in my right eye. It was swollen and severely hurting me. Well, my doctor put me on sulfameth and a eyedrop antibiotic. I don't mind taking the eye drops, but these pills are making me feel horrible. I am on 1 pill twice daily for 10 days. I asked the doctor and the pharmacist if this stuff causes constipation and they both said no. Well, I haven't been able to use the bathroom well since I started it. My muscles twitch, my eyes are sensitive to the sunlight, I can't go to sleep easily, I've been itching up a storm, and I have headaches. I want to just stop the medication but if I do then I will never get rid of this infection in my eye. I figured I'd stop the meds in the middle of the week. I hate feeling bloated and constipated. Has anyone else had the constipation effect?

I do NOT reccomend this drug! I had a sinus infection and was put on it 2xday for 10days. I was so nauseous I thought I was pregnant! The headaches were so painful I thought my head was going to explode, and was itchy , restless, achy all over and overall felt worse than if I had not taken anything and dealt with the sinus infection. HORRIBLE!!! Within minutes of taking it my eyes were puffy, I had shortness of breath, and odd heartbeats. What happened to good old fashioned Penicillin or Amoxicilin?! Never again will I take this drug!! I thought I could die!!

I have been taking Sulfameth/Trimeth for a bladder infection, one pill 2x a day. I started taking it on Thursday and felt pretty good for Thursday and Friday. Saturday I started having major headaches, feeling itchy all over, feeling a little bummed out, and felt a bit short of breath. I woke up today (Sunday) and had HORRIBLE pains in my left arm and my heart felt like it was beating much faster than normal. I took my pill and had something to eat, and took some Tylenol for the headache and I started to feel a bit better.

Once the Tylenol started to wear off, the pain in my arm was back, along with my left leg. It sort of felt like I had exercised way too much and that it was just stiff and sore. I've lost my appetite and am extremely tired but feel unable to sleep. Also today I feel depressed and angry and the littlest thing will set me off. I have 2 days left of this pill, I can't wait to be off it, and I will never take it again. I am contacting my doctor tomorrow morning to see if I should continue taking this as long as it was prescribed, or if I should just stop right now.

Why do doctors prescribe this when there are things that work much better with less side effects!?

I starting taking Sulfameth/Trimethorprim 800/160 Tabs 1 tablet every 12 hours for 5 days. I stopped last night because I have been getting major headaches that won't go away with anything that I have taken. I've been having major stomach cramps and hot flashes. All this for a bladder infection? I hate meds.

I was prescribed Sulfameth/Trimeth DS 800/160. I have to take the pill 2 times a day for 3 days for a UTI. After taking my first pill the burning went away, but I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible abdominal cramps, worse than the ones I would get with menstruation. I also had headaches, neck aches, diarrhea, nausea and a wicked loss of appetite. I can't believe after all of these negative side effects the drug is still prescribed! I would rather have the UTI than have to deal with Sulfa ever again

I was prescribed Sulfameth\Trimethoprim for a UTI on Thursday Nov.11, 05, and the 3 days I have taken this medicine, I have felt like Hell. I have nausea, unable to sleep, constanly going to the restroom, shakiness, restness, headaches and most of all, I can not have a regular bowel movement even though I have the urge to have one. Most of these are the symptons that I have when I went to the emergency room. I think that I am going to go and see my regular doctor and stop taking this medicine.

i've also noticed the weird headaches right away.i can't seem to shake them.maybe they will go away,i hope so because i'm not the one who is a fan of medicine.my vision has become more blurred and that causes my headaches to worsen,i've already had blurred vision but it has become worse,i believe after it's out of my system, then everything will be back to normal,i just have one question,do you know how long it usually takes to get out of your system.i bet you are wondering why didn't she contact her doctor, well to be honest i wasn't thinking about this medicine,i looked up a medicine that i picked up for my niece calle ciprofloxa something, then that's what made me think of my medication,i couldn't believe some of the symptoms people were having some the same as me.i just really wanted to know if the doctor's really give you medicine for what they say the cause may be or you may have something a little bit mor serious and they don't want to alarm you, just give you medicine and if you take as you told everything will be fine,i'm glad i looked up that for my niece, because i would have never thought to look it up for myself,i expected the medicine had cause those different effects in me,but i always doubt myself, thinking how can i be right,it always end up this way.

I was given this medication for a UTI and this is just my third day. It's seems to be helping my UTI, but I am having very bad headaches. Not sure if I will continue the medication.
I'll try taking in more fluids and also taking something for my
headache, ahead of time.

I have been taking Sulfameth for 7 days and I feel GREAT !! I did experience unexplained really "bad" headaches for about 3 days and I found it hard to fall asleep at night and when I finally did fall asleep I would have very vivid dreams....but it was all worth it !!!! I would take Sulfameth again if I ever needed to.

My 7yr old daughter was put on this med becasue of a UTI. she took it for six and a half days, while on this med it took 5 day for the infection to go away, on the seventh day sick got sick at school was running a temp of 102.2 I took her back to the Dr. because to had a small red rash on her face by the time we got to the office it was all over her body. We saw the Dr. first thing in the morning by tea time her whole body was covered and I was told the headaches, vomiting. and temp was a virus but after I read everyones information I can see that the fever, headaches and vomiting was due to this med. I can't believe that I was not told about the side effects of this med.

Itchy hive-like rash all over body, tingling, brief but fierce headaches... I wasn't sure what had caused it, so I looked up the medication and found it has a big history of side effects.
