Simvastatin and stomach cramps

My Mother started taking Simvastatin 6 weeks ago after a stroke, she has stomach cramps and her lips are all swollen and sore. Does it do this. It's all most odd as these things were not there before starting this drug.

My husband has been taking 40mg Simvastatin for almost a year. Since taking the statins he has had numerous side effects one of which is stomach cramps with bouts of diarrhea. His muscles have also been wasting away and he has had on and off chest pains which recently landed him in hospital which resulted in an unnecessary angiogram which was a traumatic experience.

I'm not yet sure that this medication has caused the problems, will check with my GP, but been taking 40mg doses for 3 months now, and have noticed worsening of stomach cramps, and pains in the kidney areas...also some weakness in muscles from time to time....and oh yes, intermitent night sweats too!

Stomach cramps, night sweats which stopped when I forgot to take them on a long weekend away.
