My son took risperdal for 3 to 4 months 2mg. twice a day. He has developed facial ticks, ie, squinting of the eyes, batting of the eyes, wrinkled up forehead, and downright ugly facial expressions that are uncontrolable. We have been told by the second opinion doctor that was on-call for his regular doctor that the ticks may be permanent. He is having trouble keeping his eyes open enough to see to drive, he has trouble reading because of the squints. What on earth is this medication doing on the market? He is young, ambitious, hard working, and I think if these facial ticks do not go away he will have to go on disability. He has children to support and am wondering if he will be able to keep his job. People are asking, "why are you squinting"?, why are your eyes shut?, very embarassing to say the least. Does someone who needs this kind of medication need side affects like this. I think not!
