Loestrin 24 Fe and insurance

hey...ok so this is my STORY!....
MY FIRST BC PILL WAS ORTHO TRYCYLEN LO. IT WAS GOOd but i started to notice that i was feeling like a rollercoaster.. so i decided to go to my gyno...she changed me to YAZ(HORRIBLE PILL) IT MESSED UP MY HEAR VALVE..I WAS TO ANXIOUS AND GOING CRAZY NOW I HAVE A MITRAL VALVE PROLAPSE..WHICH IS COMMON BUT I HAVE ALL THE BAD SYMPTOMS ....I ENDED UP GOING TO DOMINICAN REPUBLIC BECAUSE IT WAS TO EXPENSIVE( NO INSURANCE) THE CARDIOLOGIST GOT ME OF OF YAZ AND SEND ME TO A GYNOO... WELL THEY ENDED UP PUTTING ME THE IUD (COPPER)..HAD TO GET DILATED AND IN TO SURGERY (I WAS TO SCARED) THE FIRST MONTH I WENT CRAZY STARTED VOMITING IT WAS HORRIBLE THE SECOND MONTH I BLED FOR THE WHOLE MONTH.....GOT TIRED OF IT AND WENT TO A GYNO N GOT IT OF IT WASN'T TOLERATING MY BODY....GOT ON LOESTRIN 24 ON MY THIRD WEEK OF IT I MISSED A PILL TOOK IT IN THE MORNING HOURS PASSED AND STARTED BLEEDING TOOK THE SECOND PILL RIGHT AFTER THAT...I STARTED BLEEDING WITH FOR PILLS LEFT..NOW II DIDN'T TAKE THE IRON PILLS AND STARTED THE NEW PACK THINKING IT WOULD STOP IT...BUT NO! TODAY IS MY SEVEN DAY BLEEDING WITH HEAVY CLOTS.. HEAVY BLEEDING... AND LOTS OF CRAMPZZZ ...I NEED HELP ....I THINK IM JUST GOING STOP ..TAKING BC! I BEEN THROUGH HELL THE PAST MONTHS!

I am so happy I googled this! I am one of those people that just takes the pill and does very little research. I was on yaz and told my doc that I wanted something cheaper since we don't have insurance at the moment. She prescribed me Loestrin 24 fe and when I went to get three months it was no cheaper. Not only that, I am so depressed!!! It's Christmas and I should be happy. I am moody, miserable about everything. I try to snap out of it with my boys, but I just get overwhelmed. I know my life was hectic before, and can't say I never got depressed. This is REALLY BAD. I am happy to see I am not alone. I also have not had my period since I started this, 2 months ago. I have had nausea and cramping. YUK I even took a prego test because it's all the symptoms of when I was pregnant. This med is simply not for me.

In desperate need for help! I started taking Loestrin24Fe 1mg/20mg and I didn't start taking it on the first day of my period,I took it before I got my period.My doctor recommended that I do that. I took one whole 24 pack and noticed I had server migraines,back pain and server nausea. I missed my period and haven't had it since Oct 27th,Today is Dec 16th.I started taking the birth control in November. I'm worried I may be pregnant but have no idea,I'm terribly worried and need advice. After the 24 pack,I stopped taking it. I've continued to have server migraines and now even painful chest pain. I feel like I'm always hungry and I'm always tired and moody. No breast tenderness but I do have really bad pain in my right breast area. If any one has advice on what I should do please contact me via email ******

I have no insurance and am scared!

First of all, some people are right.... some birth control pills are different for everyone.. and i have to totally agree with TOWN...right on the button!
I had some nausea in the beginning, but hell..I have been on every birth control pill, Iud, depo fat shot, and they all still made me bleed heavy and cramp.....My family are heavy bleeders big time...My insurance finally approved Loestrin for me and this is a blessing in disguise! I have no periods! I may have occasional lil, I mean lil, spotting every now an then, but it is worth it. Sex drive? You can't get horny? Think of something... And every birth control pill there are chances of depression in every one, read. I have a tubaligation so I am only on this pill for period purpose only, but I am staying on it.

Hey everyone. I have been on orthocyclen for about 2 years now from a clinic. I finally got health insurance *yay* and I went to a gyno. He was going to prescribe me the same pills but since i still was having my period pretty bad for seven days straight and had headaches etc, he prescribed me on Loestrin 24 FE. I was happy to find out that it had iron pills instead of placebos bc i have low iron. I start it this Sunday. i am a little nervous after reading everyone comments but i have to keep in mind that everyone is different. Once I start taking it, ill update everyone :]]

I just posted a few days ago but need to update. I just started the 4th pack. I Had normal period(slightly longer than when I'm off birth control. on the brown pills third pack and no break through bleed or spotting. But my breast are extremely tender which didn't end with the end of my period. I'm extremely fatigued but have sleepless restless nights. i've developed rashes in the creases of my breast. Not fun. My sex drive has gone down and so has any feeling during sex. My poor husband doesn't understand. I'm moody. I have no appetite but am slowly gaining weight. Crappy pill. I just keep sticking it out because although my husband and I would someday like to have kids, today is not the day as we are both still students. I'll give it till the end of the month and then maybe I'll switch to a new pill.

This site really helped me out.. I think I'm stopping all of this nonsense. It might just be me, but I was on Tri-Sprintec for 2 months when I first started birth control all together, and it made everything worse. I bled way heavier and my cramps were something from hell, TRUST me.

Then my insurance company pretty much screwed me over and didn't give me my birth control for a month.. so my doctor told me that I should just switch since I'm off it anyways.

So.. I get this Loestrin24fe. I take it the first day of my period because my doctor told me that it was the safest way as to not get pregnant. And then I bleed for over 2 weeks... which is NOT NORMAL for me at all. My periods last normally a few days, not 2 weeks! So then I wake up one night throwing up, and I'm a complete bitch to everyone and I'm constantly moody and depressed and my boyfriend is a saint for putting up with me. Not to mention the fact that only a week after my period ended, I was spotting the nastiest brown blood all week. It was terrible and just UGH. And it hasn't stopped..

And then one day I was feeling extremely sick, my head felt like it was 10000 degrees and my stomach felt like something was punching it, and that was the night that my boyfriend said that he hoped I wasn't pregnant. So of course, being 18, I ran out, bought a pregnancy test, and it came out negative. Then I started the brown pills and the spotting I have been getting for almost 2 weeks now just got kinda heavier. No change in the weird brown color, just a bit heavier. And cramps from HELL again.

So coming onto this site made me feel better. I'm not the only person feeling like this is the worst idea of all time.

I have one more pack of this, and I'm going to the doctor soon. I don't want to give this bc a chance if this is whats going to happen to me the whole time. Not having a period? Are you kidding me? Some people put that, I would FREAK OUT!

Something better change in this new pack or me and Loestrin, we're so over.

I have been off of it for 2 months now. I think that I am back to normal-at least mood and libido wise. I had a long very light period last week tho-it lasted 6 days, but after that-I've been able to actually enjoy sex.

On a dif note--from a different comment, while on Loestrin had 3 yeast infections in 5 weeks. I would have sex, get one, then have to take the med which was 30 bucks w/insurance-ridiculous. Then when it was safe to have sex again-it came back. I had to finally use the cream longer and prescription pills and my husband had to get checked-which he was less than thrilled for-but he was fine, it was all me. I think it was from the dryness and all the different lubricants I was using to attempt a normal sex life.

Hi all. I've been on Loestrin 24 for 5 months. I had some initial spotting - about two weeks into the first pack, but since then my periods have been regular and very short. I haven't experienced the mood swings, emotional stuff, nausea, etc. that many of you have described. I have gained some weight though. As in, 8 pounds. I haven't really changed my diet and my exercise level has decreased minimally. Anyone else experienced this? My md is actually writing a prescription for a generic version since my idiot insurance won't cover Loestrin. For those of you with negative side effects, hope you get to feeling better.

I have experienced many of the same issues with Loestrin, bloating, random spotting, weight gain, moodiness, and loss of sex drive. However the side effect that I haven't heard but one person mention is what happens when you drink alcohol while on this pill. I have a low tolerance to begin with, yet now that I am on this pill I will get a hangover after 1 or 2 glasses of wine. It really has varied but at one point I only had two drinks and the following morning proceeded to throw up three times. I am changing to Yasmin because of insurance reasons but am happy to try something new as this pill has only greatly complicated my life.

Hey everyone... I was on Yasmin and I loved it! I had to switch to Loestrin 24 because of insurance. Like most people I have had a really irregular period on Loestrin24, or I guess lack of one. The first pack I had HEAVY breakthrough bleeding after the first week. Since then, with the second pack I had no period, I took a pregnancy test, it was negative. Then this month the third, I am about to finish the brown pills and still no period. Since I started the pill I had had horrible stomach aches, and my left breast has been in so much pain. I went to the doctor, told her about my worries, she said to wait 3 months and see what happens. I hate this pill but I am in a bind because my insurance will not cover any birth controls for a reasonable price (under $65-$90) except for the generics. It is just frustrating because of course I am worried that I am pregnant but there's no way I could be (we are always double protected). I want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to get an inexpensive form of birth control...

I have been off birth control for over a year and started Loestrin 24 Fe last week. I never search medicine boards or leave posts but I did some research and found that most of you are experiencing the same effects as me. I don't gain weight ever and feel extremely heavy right now, my breasts are popping out of my bra and I am extremely moody, depressed, sleepy, feeling dehydrated and I'm breaking out. Thank god its from the pill and I'm not really getting fat and crazy. Does anyone know if I can just stop taking the pill now or if I should finish this pack (though I'm scared these side effects won't go away until then). Please let me know.

I will say that I used to take Ovcon 35 which was great...I never gained any weight, felt anxious nor did I get acne. It's a wonderful pill and I think I will switch back to it. Most docs don't prescribe it because I don't think there is a generic form.
