I have been on Loestrin for a month now. I had breakthrough bleeding the 2nd week in for four days, wasn't bad at all. Then i had three more white pills to go until I went to the iron and i started spotting so i am guessing i got my period? I went on Loestrin bc i still had bad cramps and my period for seven straight days and headaches. I have had a headache for the past three days straight and ive been crampy and have had back pain. I will give this pill some more time. it was nice having just spotting as a period. To make sure I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. But i hope my migraines stop :[

I have been on Loestrin 24 for over a year now and I have to say that it is working really well for me. I have extremely light periods (esp. compared to the ones I was having before), predictable periods, and no mood swings. i have had breakthrough bleeding 2 of the months I've been on this pill. The only thing I've noticed is it is extremely hard for me to lose weight. Now, I only need to lose like 10 pounds, but I was running everyday and eating healthy for about 3 months and did not lose a pound of weight. I don't know if it was due to the pill, but in the past it has been fairly easy for me to lose,

Tomorrow will be my last day of the first pack of Loestrin, but during my 3rd week I got a period. Is this NORMAL? I am not used to taking a daily medication and I forget to take it at the same time everyday, even though I normally try to take it when I wake up in the morning. I wear a panty liner because I have been spotting for the past few days, even after the "regular" period was over

I have been taking Loestrin 24 FE for the past five days and i am doing pretty good, it actually stopped my period because i still had it when i started the pack which was awesome. Its hard to tell because i have a sinus infection if i am not feeling well from the pill or from the infection. I really think its just me being sick.

I'm 22 years old and I've been taking Loestrin since the end of February. I haven't had any real severe side affects from it. It's my first time on birth control and I was very weary about getting on the pill all together. I do notice my period is different. Sometimes I'm really heavy for 5 or 6 days and sometimes I don't see any blood. I don't notice much nausea from it and I was really concerned about that before I starting taking it. I do notice my libido is down and I don't have much energy. I need to switch off of this pill because it's not in my price range. I'm trying to find a pill that was actually kind of similar to it. A pill that was low in hormones more particularly. Does anyone have any suggests?

I’ve been on Loestrin 24 fe for a year now, and I started it because I had so much breakthrough bleeding with Orthocyclen. Strange side effect of Loestrin is that I have never got a period since I started (1 year), even though I follow the directions completely. Anyone else had this experience? The worst side effect I would say is that I have absolutely no sex drive. None. It’s very depressing to me and confusing to my husband. I haven’t found anything that helps. I’m afraid to try another pill for the chance of having worse side effects. Any suggestions?

ok I posted a few months ago about my experience with this pill. Well Im now back to say it is starting not to work. My period started about 8 days ago and has not stopped but get this I am not taking the brown pills so I should not be getting a period @ all. Go figure. Also my breast which were large before I started this pill is HUGER now I take pictures from the neck up cuz I l look like Im swollen. I am now taking two pills a day to stop the bleeding so we will see but when this pack is gone im off these for good. I have had horrible cramps as if i was not on the pill. I can say the bleeding was considerably light considering I cannot leave out side my house when Im on my period usually. But the reason for me starting the pill was to not have periods at all!!!

I was on Loestrin 24 for a year and was having issues with mild acne, which I have never experienced in my whole life. I was also having major issues with my contacts. My eyes were always red and really bothersome. Now I have been off of Loestrin for a few weeks and back on Yaz and feeling great! I love Loestrin since I would never get my period, except 2x in the whole year and it was barely there. But now on Yaz, I don't have acne or trouble with my contacts. Plus I had gained weight on Loe and now losing a couple of pounds. The difficult thing is that the doctors tell you that you shouldn't experience side effects from these pills, such as weight gain, since they are such low hormones, but I think it's definitely possible. Anyways, if you are on Loe and reading a bunch of this stuff and nervous, it's fine, it's a great pill and you never get your period! How great is that! And in the beginning there may be breakthrough bleeding and spotting, which is normal while your body adjusts. But if you have other issues, later on, you just have to decide if you prefer side effects or your period?? It's your choice! lol! I am loving Yaz though!

I have been taking Loestrin for close to two months now and its driving me crazy. The sole purpose for taking the pill was to regulate my excessively long periods (5-7 days). About four days after taking it, I started what is called breakthrough bleeding. My dr. said its completely normal and since then, I've been spotting everyday! It normally takes your body three months to adjust to the pill but I am not even sure I want to continue taking it. I am dating someone new and we haven't been intimate often because I do not feel comfortable doing so spotting. He's been extremely patient and he's great about it but I am getting the opposite results of what I had hoped for. I must say I have pretty decent skin and am usually pimple/zit free, but I've noticed I've been getting some zits on my face more than usual. I am unsure if this is a direct result of Loestrin or not. I am going to complete my three months and hope that I get fewer and lighter periods as the pill suggests. I've read so many different reviews on the pill that I am unsure what to think anymore!!!

I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 10 months now and I am all of a sudden having this breakthrough bleeding and I am about 2 weeks in on the pack. It is so frustrating! Does anyone else have this and is it normal since I have been on this pill for 10 months? I haven't had problems until now and I am hating life! Does it get better?

I have been on Yasmin for 4 months, but had to switch to Loestrin. While on Yasmin my periods were very regular and timely directly down to the day. This month i took loestrin each day on time, and used back up methods. There was only one "slip up" and even it would make it almost impossible for me to be pregnant. i've taken 4 pregnancy test and each reads negative CLEARLY .However im almost a week late for my period according to the loestrin pill pack , and i'm beginning to get nervous because i'm still waiting on my period! Can switching brands of bc cause you to miss a period, anyone experienced this?

I switched from Yaz to Loestrin 2 weeks ago, On day 11 I experienced spotting, now its full on breakthrough bleeding like a normal period. It is now day 15/ At night it tends to get light and then mid day its very heavy w/ lots of cramping. In the morning I don't want to get up cause the cramps hurt. I never experienced problems on Yaz. No weight gain, I only would get cramps and do to the increased level of potassium yaz causes my doctor didn't like me taking too much midol, etc on Yaz. So I switch to Loestrin. I was coming on here to see how long the breakthrough bleeding generally lasted....looks like it ranges. Hopefully I'll luck out and it will stop soon!!!! But some positives...I was experiencing some nausea daily before the switch to this pill, that has now stopped, and I haven't experienced any weight gain or moodiness as others have described.

I am glad sites like this one exist because it makes it easier to become educated on all the different side effects women have. Of course, its a completely different experience for each and every one of us, based on our biological clock, hormone levels, etc...I've been taking Loestrin for about 9 days now. The first three days I was extremely irritable and moody. Everyone noticed it and pointed it out because its so unlike my character to be that way for no reason. I was snapping at people and I felt very sensitive. I've felt light-headed and weak but many of my back pain medications make me feel this way so I am unsure as to whether I should attribute the sensations to Loestrin. After the fourth day, I've felt normal. The only thing that concerns me now is that I started bleeding this morning. My doctor said I have what's called breakthrough bleeding and I hope it doesn't last longer than a day or two. I've never taken any oral contraceptives in my life and hope this regulates my excessively long periods (think 5-7 days).

So I just finished my second month on loestrin24. And I have to say things went much better. once I started the white pills on the second month - I had no breakthrough bleeding (no spotting) the whole month. My period was pretty light (lighter than what they usually are for me) and cramps were much lighter too. My breast tenderness has gone away, but I still feel a little moody (i'm not sure if this is the pill or me!). My first month was god awful - 2 weeks of heavy bleeding, breast tenderness, mood swings. I originally took this OC to help with heavy bleeding from fibroids. I just hope it continues to run as smoothly as the second month did. Doctors should really let folks know what they might experience before starting this pill.

I have been taking Loestring24Fe for the past two months and I am really considering stopping. I have experienced breakthrough bleeding, mood swings, emotional roller coaster, post nasal drip, sleepless nights and loss of appetite. I was placed on the pills to help with my heavy periods. I think I would rather have heavy periods then deal with all these side effects. I was trying to figure out what could I do for post nasal drip without having to go to the physician. I only have one pack of pills left. The question is should I continue for one more month or stop?

I am on my first pack of Loestrin 24 Fe. I was doing okay except for constant breakthrough bleeding. This past weekend I was at a rehearsal dinner and wedding where I did a fair amount of drinking. On Monday I started feeling weird. By Monday night I was so weak and tired feeling that I couldn't lift my head. I've been laying on the couch for 24 hours and I still feel like the life has drained out of me. I"ve also had a stuffed nose and post-nasal drip since I started the pill. I went to the doctor this morning and they decided I needed iron pills to counteract the bleeding and an antihistamine and singlulair for the nasal symptoms. I'm now totally afraid of this pill!

Hey everyone... I was on Yasmin and I loved it! I had to switch to Loestrin 24 because of insurance. Like most people I have had a really irregular period on Loestrin24, or I guess lack of one. The first pack I had HEAVY breakthrough bleeding after the first week. Since then, with the second pack I had no period, I took a pregnancy test, it was negative. Then this month the third, I am about to finish the brown pills and still no period. Since I started the pill I had had horrible stomach aches, and my left breast has been in so much pain. I went to the doctor, told her about my worries, she said to wait 3 months and see what happens. I hate this pill but I am in a bind because my insurance will not cover any birth controls for a reasonable price (under $65-$90) except for the generics. It is just frustrating because of course I am worried that I am pregnant but there's no way I could be (we are always double protected). I want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to get an inexpensive form of birth control...

I am taking my 4th month of Loestrin 24 and I am very unhappy with it. Like many other people I am experiencing breakthrough bleeding each month...I have NEVER had this problem before. I have increased one cup size, have breast tenderness for the majority of each month, I have sleepless nights and very weird dreams.I have become extremely moody and seem down a lot of the time. I am going to be comtacting my doctor tomorrow to discuss a new pill.

I just started using Loestrin and felt like there wasn't much information about breakthrough bleeding with new lo-dose extended (24day) OCs like loestrin 24 and what causes it. The blogs have been really helpful, but I wanted more medical information. My sister works for the CDC so I asked her and she sent me this article on how different OC pills effected women in various trials. There are a few medical terms I didn't know of right of the bat, but it was pretty comprehensible. It helped me understand what the heck was going on with my body this first month with all the bleeding and cramps. If you want a copy of the article, just click on the private e-mail button and let me know where to send it.....

I am 34 and started taking loestrin 24 at the advice of my doctor cause I have really heavy periods and a lot of breakthrough bleeding mostly due to fibroids which has made me quite anemic. I was hoping this would help. I started Loestrin 24 about 16 days ago. On the ninth day I started breakthrough bleeding and it hasn't stopped! I feel like it's become a full fledged period! I just hope the bleeding stops soon. I have pretty bad cramps and backaches. I've been popping many advil. Also, my breasts are tender and they're definitely bigger (I liked my boobs the way they were!). As far as mood, the first week was fine, but I was pretty lethargic and depressed the second week. Starting the third week yesterday, my mood has been much better. It sounds like people have had success after the 3 month waiting. Me, I'm willing to duke it out for another month for the almost-nothing periods. But 2 more months of this I don't think I can handle. I'll let you know what happens

I'm 20 years old and i was put on Loestrin 24 in may (almost 10 months now). with the exception of some breakthrough bleeding in the beginning i had not experienced any side effects. everything was working perfectly. lately i began noticing that i was getting very emotional about things but didn't know why. a week and a half ago i started my new pack and i have been anxious and depressed ever since. it has been really hard on my relationship with my boyfriend and i have not been excited about anything. its like i have had an emotional disconnect with everyone in my life who i loved. it finally occurred to me that it might be my pill and after reading everyones blogs I've realized that it is definitely possible.

OK so, this is my first b.c. pill ever. I'm 20 years old. I've been taking Loestrin for about 7-8 months now. In the beginning everything went as normal as expected. Breakthrough bleeding frot he first month and half, then it seemed to be fine. (by the way trust me:...take the pill at the same time EVERYDAY it helps sooo much with bleeding) NOW, i barely get my period, and i have become so UNCONTROLLABLY emotional I can't help it. I think this pill is starting to have a serious effect on my mental health and I'm most likely going to switch. I think I'm even becoming depressed. I just don't know what pill is a better option!

I am 20 years old and I just finished my second pack of Loestrin and I'm never taking it again. I had breakthrough bleeding during the third and fourth weeks of the pills, I was bloated all the time, my boobs got bigger (which sucks), and i was moody.
About two weeks into the first pack, I started feeling really panicked all the time. When I started my second pack, I had nightmares. I have panic attacks and I overall feel HORRIBLE. I keep thinking I'm going to have a heart attack. These pills made me CRAZY.

I've been on Loestrin 24 for about 2 months now and it is horrible! I had breakthrough bleeding within the first 4 days of starting the pill and that brown discharge lasted almost 2 weeks. My period came late and now this second month my period came early. I am having the worst cramps I've ever had in my entire life and I haven't been able to sleep for the past 2 nights. I will NOT be going back on this pill next month.

I've been on Loestrin24 for about a month. I have been having a lot of nausea, but that's about it. I've tried many other kinds of bc pills before, and they all have side effects. Everybody responds differently!! How many women have taken any birth control pill for the first 3 months with NO side effects??? If there is one out there PLEASE tell me what it is..............Deal with them or have your tubes tied or be celibate..Those are the other options...lol

What can I say, Breakthrough Bleeding, Breakthrough Bleeding, Breakthrough Bleeding!!!!!!! I have been on this pill for about 3 weeks and have only experienced two side effects, a little nausea and as you can guess breakthrough bleeding. The doctor warned me that I may spot a little but this is ridiculous. I have ruined about 12 pairs of underwear and 2 sets of sheets. I am going to give it a little longer but if the bleeding doesn't stop soon I am going to switch pills.

I have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for a year now and it has really worked well for me until this month. I had a break through bleeding for about 5 days, I never missed a pill and always take them at the same time each morning. Well it came time for me 2 start and I haven't started or spotted any at all. My breast are tender but thats it and I have only missed my period once while taking these pills. Could the break through cause me not to have my period? I am so stressed that I am pregnant!! If anyone has experienced this can you please let me know so I can have a little bit of relief...Thanks.

I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for a year and a half now, since I was 17. For at least the first few months I had breakthrough bleeding everyday, but then it seemed to be working great with my body. I have learned that if you do not take the pill at the EXACT same time every day you will have your period the entire month. Now I only have a light period for 3-4 days but experience increased mood swings, weight gain, breast tenderness and bad cramps which I never had before the pill.

I am 31 years old and am on my third pack of pills. The first month I had two weeks of breakthrough bleed with the usual flow of my normal period. The advice nurse then told me to double up on my pills until the bleeding stopped (which it did after two days) and then start a new pack on Sunday like you normally do after your period. So I followed her instructions and started a new pack the following Sunday. On the second pack I never got my period. I am now approaching the end of my third pack and am worried about not getting my period. This does not seem natural and makes me nervous about being pregnant constantly. Is this happening to anyone else out there?

Also, I have noticed that I am not as emotional as I was when I first started taking it and the bloating and little weight/water gain is over. Wish I had gained a 1/2 cup like some of you other ladies he he...

Just wondered is anyone else not getting their period and doesn't that worry you?
