I've been on Lisinopril-HCTZ 10-12.5 for 8 months now. I hate it. So far I've experienced:

- dry cough
- headaches
- chest pains (under my left rib cage area. Its a sudden sharp pain that lasts maybe 2 seconds, then its gone. It'll do that a few times a day)
- stuffy nose (doctor told me it was allergies. Put me on allergy medication, have been on it for 2 months, and it hasn't helped)
- trouble breathing
- rashes
- fatigue (doctor assured me it would go away after a few weeks, but it hasn't)
- dizziness
- no menstrual cycle (this medication has stopped my periods all together)

I've had it with this crap. My primary doctor wasn't the one who put me on it. I haven't been able to see my primary doctor because I don't have insurance and couldn't afford it. I've been going to a community clinic. I'm willing to pay to see my primary doctor than continue going there. At least I'll know I'll be taken seriously.

I started taking Lisinopril last March, and my monthly cycle went from a normal cycle to a debilitating three day pain fest.
The first month I had a uterine cramp like comparable to labor that lasts for three straight days. The second month I added a sharp pain in my stomach that compared to a severe food poisoning episode but the only symptom was the pain.

This continued through June, when I asked my physician to switch me to a different medication although he did not think the side effects I was describing was related to the Lisinopril. The next month the uterine cramp was less severe but I also was treating with Midol which may have been the reason.

Last month, at my six month check my blood pressure was still not where my doctor want to see it, so he put me back on Lisinopril and kept me on the Hydrochlorothiazide, now I am on two medications!

After reading this site, it occurs to me that my shoulder where I had surgery two years has also been acting up the last six months as well. I have been doing PT again after the pain increased and I asked my surgeon what to do. He made not connection to the medication I am taking as a possible source.

The only other thing is I have lost some weight, with relative easy (not usual for me). Which I had attributed to a change of eating pattern due to my new work schedule.

All things to consider now that I have read this website.

Thanks to all who share, this is the best way to understand that everyone does react differently and you have really pay attention to what is going on with your own body when you are taking any medication.

I am on Lisinopril 10mg I break the tab in half take it morn and night, also I am on Hydrochlorot 12.5mg once a day.
I have been having a cough, dizzyness, tiredness, knee pain and I have no control of wetting myself when I cough. for some time now. I have been on this stuff for a year. I went to the Doctor the 14th of Nov. only to find that my Triglycerides are out of the roof my Cholesterol is up and I have high blood sugar. My blood preasure is good though.
I watch what I eat very closley. I am a bit over weight 60#'s.
I have been on the web for 3 hours now checking out these problems well Hydrochlorot causes the Triglycerides, Cholesttrol and the blood sugar to go up. Then I find this web site stating all the problems that Lisinopril causes I am having some of the same problems as the rest of you.
I am not going to take any more of this poison. I am going to go the natural way. I found on www.rxomega3.com some information about Lowering Triglycerides the stuff is called OMACOR (omega-3-acid ethyl esters) it is FDA approved which means nothing to me. Your Doctor can prescribe it for you.
Thank you for all the information you all have shared about this drug. My husband and I do alot of the natural ways in the first place but I feel I was scared into taking these drugs.
I am just going to put my trust in the Lord from now on he is the doctor and the healer. He healed my Husband of Mastatic Prostate Cancer this year.

The bottoms of my feet started hurting quite badly. I believe that the lisinopril does something to the body's calicum regulation, like maybe depleting calicum reserves. I think the body then takes calicum from the bones. This may also have something do to with the aching around the ribs and tight band feeling around the chest. Try taking a calicum supplement. I used the twin lab calcium citrate plus magnesium. For about 3 months I took one at each meal, but now I don't seem to need as much anymore. My feet feel better these days too. Can't really say if its the same thing as 9177 or not. Best of luck!

well, Iam only 17 with elevated BP, My doc has started me off with Norvasc 5mg, then switched to Lisinopril 5mg, then 10mg, and now I am the 20 mg. I don't like it, its hard for me to function at school, i get some king of bad chest pains, and hard pressure on my stomach/ribs, i have ecemza and it was beginning to heal up and get better but since I went up it have gotten worse, my BP has lowered a lot is usually 135/110, I am 5-2' and weigh only 135, Ihave gotten these bruise looking things on my legs, puffy legs, lump in my throat, bad cough, mucus in throat, bad headaches, and many other things. I can also see that mostly everyone that left a message is unhappy with this medicine and is way older than me.

I'm a 43 year-old female, on Lisinopril 5mg for 8 years now. I've recently developed tingling hands and occasionally toes. I get very lightheaded and feel a band of pressure around my ribs and have to lay down often. I ended up in the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack, but everything checked out just fine. After doing a little net-surfing I found that Lisinopril can cause all of these symptoms. So....bad me, I quit taking it yesterday. This is the best I've felt in three weeks. I'm monitoring my blood pressure constantly and will talk to my doc next week about another med. I don't recommend that anyone else just stop taking their meds. I have only a slightly elevated BP and will take the pills if it shoots up before I can see my doctor.
