I was forced to go off geodon after finding out that I couldn't afford it in the new state I moved to (no Medicaid, no job). OMG I had an anxiety attack that escalated to a paranoid incident raising my blood pressure incredibly high. I went through sleeplessness, sweating, did I mention total paranoia and finally went to the emergency. I will never put my mental health at stake because I can't afford a drug. My mental illness alone is better than what I went through.

Been on Geodon, substituted for weight-gaining Zyprexa, 3 weeks. No more paranoia, clear thinking, but want to go off because of horrible insomnia. Racing heart while on too high a dose of Geodon. Doc won't let me off, so here I go myself....

Within 5 days of beginning course of Geodon, 40mg daily, doc doubled my dosage to 80mg, began to have problems. Intensely manic, easily frightened, insomnia, terrifying dreams. I decided to get out of hospital ASAP and decide if to quit taking Geodon.
On day six already my face was twitching, was irritable and manic, pacing, increasingly manic throughout day, decided to skip evening dose, keep total dosage same as before, 40mg. Began tripping around midnight and it was all downhill from there. Sleepless all night, by morning I had convulsions, increased heart rate, fear and anxiety, psychosis, uncontrollable crying. Had another seizure 12 hours later. Slept a little with help of Valium. Next day developed Parkinson's like symptoms, had my father not been there to help me, Lord knows what would have happened to me. Still awake in day 3 of withdrawal. Hoping the worst is over.

I have been taking Geodon for exactly 15 days, and I'm FREAKING OUT over this drug!! Last night I woke to find myself throwing things around the room to try and baricade myself thinking someone OR something was trying to kill me. My bird was really startled and started free flight in his cage. Luckily he did not hurt himself, but he could have. My paranoia is WORSE, and I am MORE PSYCHOTIC than I was before taking Geodon! Do I need to give it more time to see if these terrible side effects will diminish? A friend who knows a lot about medications told me that if I am experiencing these same side effects after 2 weeks into taking the medication, it appears that my body is trying to tell me something, it is rejecting it. I want to just stop taking it IMMEDIATELY, BUT, will I be worse if I do? What kind of side effects can I expect?
HELP!!!!!!!

I have been on geodon for 5 months now. At first the side effects were horrible. I was very agitated, unable to sit still, flushing, and paranoia. However, now I feel better. The first month and a half were hell. I have BPD and my moods are very controlled. I have lost 30lbs on this medicine. I was on Zyprexa prior to this and experienced a 60lb weight gain. Thanks to everyone who has posted prior to this...when i was struggling so, it was good to know others had experienced my side effects too.

I have been on Geodon for BPD for about a month and a couple of weeks. I also have side effects -dry mouth, terrible indigestion, sometimes sleep too much, sometimes not at all. I get headaches only if I miss a dosage, though. I'm restless alot. And my muscles tremble even thought no one can see them. Also some paranoia.
I'm on 80 mgs. every night and plan to stick with it because I can feel my moods stabilizing. I feel very different from before I was taking this medicine. For me the BPD is much worse than the side effects caused by Geodon. I have taken other meds that put me in the hospital.
So far this has been a life saver for me.
My doc told me to stick to the 80 mgs. a night because of the awful side effects from the other meds he wants to raise dosage slowly.
Yes, I'm uncomfortable and wish I didn't have to take it. But since it is the only one that is truly working so far I will stick with it. I suffer much more when my BPD is not under control.

I was on Geodon 2 times before and never felt anything. Iv'e also been on a bunch of different kinds of meds. Nothing has worked for me. The physchiatrist prescribed Geodon yet again. And this morning i took my first dose. I slept for 14 hours without waking. Also directly upon waking i heard loud voices in the house. The only person that was home at this time was me and my dad. I got out of bed and went to see who was here. My dad looked at me like i had lost my mind. Also i heard loud rumblings and noises outside the house. But there wasnt anything going on outside. I hope that these effects are only temporary i start taking 4 geodons next week a day. Im kinda scared. The reason i was put on them again was for my Hallucinations, Paranoia, and Impulsiveness behavior. I have other things wrong as well. I hope these help this time but i don't know yet.

I have been on Geodon for 2 years for auditory hallucinations and paranoia. It's been a great drug for me but occassionally I have dizzy spells, even while sitting down. Anyone else had this problem? Also, if I even 2 hours late on taking my dose I get a killing headache...so how am I ever gonna get off this stuff?

I honestly do not like taking Geodon. It can have negative effects on your heart. However I have been taking Geodon for at least six months now.
If I miss just one dose I start to feel extreme withdrawal. My withdrawal side effects are blurred vision, nausea, headache, and weakness.
And I've never had withdrawal from a medicine before. But for some reason it's really bad with Geodon.
I'm going to ask me Doctor about this.
