Hi Everyone,

Doctor put me on Geodon about 3 months ago. I started out 60 mg in the sample package the Doctor gave me. After using the sample pack I was prescribed 2 60 mg tablets (120mg) at night. It worked well for awhile and all of a sudden it seemed to stop working for me. I read a lot about how this drug is a nasty one and decided to cut down to 1 tablet (60 mg at night) The very next day I was trembling and having hot and cold flashes along with "brain zaps" and heart palpitations. I was hoping the Lamictal would cushion the side effects of the Geodon. Well it sure didn't do that and I know as the day goes I will have the same symptoms as I did yesterday.
The Geodon website makes this drug sound like a miracle drug but does state that heart related issues are there especially for the elderly people. This is a nasty drug that I hope I can get off and maybe go back to Lexapro because I have ADHD and not Bi-Polar.

I have been relatively side-effect fee from 160 mg geodon for about a year until I increased dosage to 200 mg. At that point I had agitation, akathisia and a panicky feeling. I am taking benydryl until I can talk to doctor. It cound also be from an anti-depressant Cymbalta which i started to take at the same time as the increased geodon. However, with the Geodon I feel it only covers the symptoms of schizophrenia about 80%. I had many more side effects with about a 40 other neuroleptics.

I started taking Geodon about 3 to 4 weeks ago. At 2 weeks I started to feel like I was crwling out of my skin. It felt like a severe panic attack buut the only symtom was I couldnt sit still. Finally my doc said it was Akathisia. But I wasnt relived to hear that news either! He wants to up the dose im on ( 80 ) to 120 said with higher doses the side effects go away. But im scared that with the higher dose it will get worse!!! please email me if anyone has the same thing or would like to share with me !!! Also guest 5131 I noticed you had the same thing.....

after three months of no side effects I suddenly began to feel my skin crawl, could not sit still, began shaking my foot, pacing, slight rocking, impatient attitude. I found out this was called "akathisia" . I began to smoke pot to calm me down as I was not able to contact my docter and that helped the growing depression and anxiety about the way my body was all of a sudden reacting. after 1 1/2 weeks it went away. I had decreased the amount I was taking from 60 mg day to 40 mg. maybe that's why it went away. the nervousness has dissapeared but now I am depressed and am going to ride it out because overall-geodone has been good. if it happens again I will ask my docter for something like valium .

I've been on Geodon for two days now, and from the very first pill (40mg) I've taken I noticed a side effect that is extremely bothersome; I've looked it up on the internet and found out it is "akathisia" or "restless legs." I just couldn't keep still, yet I was also so tired I didn't have the energy to even fidget like they (my legs) seemed to need me to do. So I was awake all night and day, unable to concentrate, and my anxiety level went up. I've been prescribed Propranolol to counter that side effect, but who knows if it'll help. If it doesn't, I'm not taking the Geodon anymore, BPD/OCD/PTSD or not.
