The best thing about this pill is it was free from my gyno(because I have no insurance) and it gave me bigger breasts. The bad thing is I don't want to have sex,Im tired and bummed out all the time- very strange -these symptoms are so not me.My boyfriend researched the side effects of my pill because he swore since I had been taking it I have been acting crazier than ever- he enjoys my big boobs but the sex drive being gone and how weird im acting all of time just isn't worth it.

Obviously a lot of the gals taking this hormonal formulation need to get a totally different one. What surprises me are all the first-time BC users whose doctors are putting them on a rather high-dose pill (not technically high dose, but it is the highest you can be under the "Low Dose" heading). I would think their doctors would've put them on something very very low and go from there.
Anyways, I was on BC pills for 8 years before we decided to start a family. However, ever since having my first child 4 years ago, I couldn't find a pill that could control my period. It seemed that when I was off the pill, I was fine, but as soon as I started a pill I would bleed 3 weeks out of 4. It was awful--plus insurance wouldn't pay for other methods besides permanent BC methods. I went through at least three different types of pills with no luck. Then we decided to have our second child...so off the pill and my periods were normal and regular up until I conceived. After my second child was born and I was done breast-feeding, my doctor put me on a pill (loestrin, I think?) and back to the same thing...3 weeks of heavy bleeding out of 4 and it made not only me, but my husband, crabby. I tried another pill, then finally got very firm and specific with the nurses and my doctor...they needed to put me on something completely different than the other formulations I'd been on and/or a higher dosage.
First month on Femcon FE and only 1 day of light spotting; lighter-than-normal period (thank goodness!); but I did have some weird abdominal pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen. Thankfully that pain went away after eating, particularly high-fiber meals or large meals. Since I had a stomach bug the week before I started the pills, I didn't think too much of it; figured the stomach virus had moved south and was just irritating my gut. It went away by the time I had my period...but it started again after 5 days on my next pill pack, though the pain is considerably less than last month. However, after seeing someone else's comment regarding estrogen's affect on the gallbladder (and that's about where my pain was), I'm going to at least talk to my doctor on Monday.
I have had no other side effects other than the abdominal pain and very very slight breast tenderness (although after pregnancy and breast-feeding, the breast tenderness is barely noticeable in comparison). So I'd like to stay on this as long as I'm not developing any gallstones, etc.

This pill is the worst....I am on my second pack, and I keep on having light spotting and I keep on getting yeast infections. The infection will clear up when i start taking the brown pills and it will come back 2-3 days after I start taking the white pills again..I know birth control will give you more yeast infections, but this is ridiculous!!!!!!!...I am bloated and swollen..my breasts are very tender, and I cant seem to go to sleep!!!!!!!! Im going to ask the doctor for another pill. I was on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for 7 years, and had to stop because my insurance stopped covering it. These pills are much cheaper, and the doctor said they were great. I AM GOING TO GET ANOTHER PILL!! THANK GOD FOR THIS WEBSITE!

If you used to take Ovcon 35 and your doctors claims that Femcon Fe is the new Ovcon....they're lying! My doctor told me that for the past year and I just went to the pharmacy to get my new prescription of Ovcon 35! It does exist if you still want it :) I can't wait to start my new pack! I can't been on this pill in over a year thanks to insurance/doctors pushing the generic at me.

I've been on the pill for a couple months without much of a problem. I initially started taking Femcon, along with an antibiotic (for acne) which caused me to contract a severe yeast infection. I then immediately stopped taking the antibiotic thinking that the problem would be solved. However, a couple months later new symptoms had arised. I found myself having painful cramps in the abdominal area, foul cloudly smelling urine, light brownish spotting, light white milky discharge, and slight itch/discomfort. I used an over the counter yeast infection kit on two separate occasions which seemed to be unresponsive. Are my symptoms normal or a possibility due to taking the Femcon? Does it sound like I have more of a UTI or a yeast infection? I don't have insurance so It's very difficult to run back and fourth to a doctor. Has anyone tried the over the counter yeast and UTI tests?
