Femcon FE and insomnia

Okay , so I poste on 10/25 some of my symptoms. I started off well but did not maintain that way. It hit me on Friday like a ton of bricks. Nausea, Mood swings, Hot Flashes, Stomach Pain. Insomnia, Dizziness, and back pain. I decided on Monday to discontinue the medication and call the doctor. She absolutely said to STOP it. I have been off for 2 days and I noticed within 24 hours I was able to walk around and complete some of my daily tasks. Still having Nausea, but most all I feel like my stomach right under my rib cage at the top is Bloated!! The palpitations were too nerve wrecking. I am wondering if I really messed myself up. Still have back pain but to add insult to injury. I am now Bleeding SO HEAVY, that it is really concerning me. I would never recommend the meds to anyone, I know everyone is different but , I truly felt that Death was warming over. I am usually the one who doesn't suffer from side effects of MEDS. Go Figure!! This forum is great and I was really surprised that people were actually having the same symptoms and posting them for others to read and relate to. I never thought I would find a forum about the meds that "I " was taking. Glad I stumbled upon this. Just be very cautious of your symptoms, only you know yourself and how you feel. well i've been reading all the replies on FemconFE and to be honest i have a lot of these symptoms that i have never experienced before. well it started a weeks ago that i started noticing bad symptoms. i've been on femcon for a month and a week and i have mood swings,insomnia,hot flashes,dizziness, nausea, severe stomach pain, and worst of all...heart flutters. when i was born i was diagnosed with a heart murmur...well at 8 years old it was lessened to a heart flutter. i haven't had problems with my heart since i was 16. no even the birth of my daughter affected me. but since being on this i can't even drive, clean my house, let alone take care of my 14 weeks old daughter. i'm calling the doctor in a few hours when they open and hopefully he'll take me off of this

I took FemCon FE for seven days and experienced a lot of severe side effects which included diarrhea after I eat, foully smell in urine, itching and burning in vagina (like a yeast infection), hearburn, hot flashes, burning feeling in my heart and chest (not the same thing as hearburn), and terrifying anxiety symptoms that consisted of heart palpitations, heart flutters, shortness of breath, numbness in arms, dizziness, join pain, lump in throat, tight chest pains, and insomnia. The anxiety symptoms seemed to be worse at nighttime. I literally felt like I was going to have a heart attack and die. I stopped taking the pill three days ago and I do feel some better, but not completely back to normal yet. I did a lot of praying during this difficult time and God helped me get through it. I know I couldn't have made it without Him. The fear of dying was so intense that I thought my heart was literally going to stop. I almost passed out a few times which is also a scary feeling. My doctor put me on Femcom FE for my hormones, not for birth control, because I had a tubal back in 2002. I would rather put up with my crazy hormones then have the extreme anxiety attacks. The only good thing was my period didn't last as long and was lighter. Now that I have went off of FemCon, I started bleeding again like a normal period. I don't recommend Femcom FE for anyone.

I am 31 years old and have been on contraceptives for 15 years. I have endometriosis and have very bad periods. In the past I have taken several different brands of the pill and have had no side effects, aside from a very occasional migrane, but they have not controlled my pain/periods...so we tried femcon fe. I stopped taking it today after three months when i realized that the horrible things i have been going through match up with what all of the other ladies are saying here. The first day i had such pain in my breasts that my bra itself almost brought me to tears, then came the nausea. I actually took three pregnancy tests because i was sick at the same time everyday. I started vomiting with painful abdominal cramping off and on and not putting two and two together i was about to go and have a GI thinking it was an ulcer or worse! then i started to notice the weight gain, skin issues - not pimples but splotches, Then came the depression, rage and mental cloudiness. I started having trouble concentrating or even listening, was experiencing horrible anxiety to the point of near rage, and even having some trouble slurring my words and having significant "blank outs" where i couldn't find my words or remember things. I was depressed enough to consider psychiatric help/meds...this is NOT me!! Insomnia, crazy vivid dreams and nightmares, trembling, irrational fears and reactions...these are serious side effects that were doing nothing but getting worse. Today i got a migrane and could not stop vomiting, that is when i sat in fear that there was something terribly wrong with me and it hit me...THAT DAMNED PILL!!! I am not kidding, i really thought that i was deathly ill. stomach cancer?, a stroke? i thought, what the hell is going on here?!? That's when i found this site and thanks to you ladies i am no longer afraid that i am crazy or going to die! immediately, i called my OB who has advised me not to take another femcon, obviously, and said that everyone reacts differently and this is not something that will "level out." If you are having these issues CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!! Please don't let yourself get to the point of total misery that I stupidly did...there are HUNDREDS of pills out there that will not do this to you!!! I wish i would have realized this sooner i thought it was all coincidental having been on so many different pills and never having even a tiny pimple of a side effect. Please do you research and please don't continue taking this pill if you are having problems with it...it is not for everyone and an irregular period is nothing compared to the sheer hell i have been going through to have 10% less cramps and a one day shorted period!!

My new Dr. put me on Femcon to alleviate extremely painful cramps and very heavy bleeding. I am in the 2nd month of taking it, and am experiencing many of the symptoms mentioned here. Extremely painful, swollen breasts, crazy insomnia for days and days, depression, leg muscle spasms, headaches, acne and weight gain. But flow is lighter and the cramps are mild. Trade-off worth it? Not at this point. But I'll go thru the 3rd month to see if things improve. Yikes.

I started Femcon Fe a week and a half ago for irregular periods. I am halfway through the second row and I am DONE. I have tension headaches, insomnia, nausea that wakes me in my sleep, I feel lazy and tired. The worst part is that is making me itch all over my body. I had cholestasis of pregnancy TWICE, and I am experiencing the same symptoms. I also felt these symptoms with Ortho Tricyclen and NuvaRing. I guess I'll just have to deal with the irregular periods.

I started taking Femcon FE about 4 months ago. I haven't had a good nights sleep since. Other side effects I have suffered from are nausea (after taking the pill no matter what time of day/night), headaches/migraines, VERY low sex drive!!, insomnia, increased appetite!! especially for sweets, extreme fatigue and severe mood swings. I have however, experienced no break through bleeding and have had a very regular period, 28 days to be exact. I love that about the pill but the side effects for me are enough for me to stop taking this pill. My husband mentioned that maybe this pill was causing my insomnia and after doing some research and reading other comments here I feel that it is this pill. So....thanks to all who post here. You have helped me greatly! Now maybe I can get some much needed sleep.....zzzzzzzz....zzzzzzzzz AND SEX!!!! :)

I started Femcon due to heavy bleeding. Since I started it, my insomnia has gotten worse, and I get the shakes. I thought that maybe the nauseous feeling I get after taking my pill was normal as my body was just getting used to the hormone, but within 20 minutes of taking the pill, my whole body starts quivering and shaking. Has anyone else had this type of problem?

I have been on Femcon FE for about 4 months now. I had no idea that the problems I have been having could be related to my bc pill!!! I have been depressed, extremely fatigued (probably due to insomnia!!!), night sweats, profuse sweating all of the time, terrible cramps, headaches & now I have had hives for 3 weeks!!! I don't know if all of these are related to the pill, but I am stopping my pills today. My husband has agreed to have a vasectomy & we will just use condoms until then. I have thought that I could be going through pre menopause, but have been told that I was too young (I am 36). I have thought that I was losing my mind. I never had problems w/any pill until after I had my daughter 5 yrs ago. I have since been on Yasmin, Yaz & now Femcon & have had problems w/all of them. I also have break thru bleeding pretty bad also.
