Diovan and insomnia

Depression, foot pain, joint pain, bloating, feeling like I have to have a bowel movement all the time which led to severe hemorrhoids and severe rectal bleeding. Thought I had colon cancer till I underwent colonoscopy and Dr. ruled that out. Severe fatigue, insomnia, blurred vision. I guess you could say if there is a side effect I have it, even my teeth feel sensitive and I have been to the Dentist several times this year and have very good teeth. Is anyone having severe coughing and anxiety?

I am 53 year old male and began taking Diovan 160 dose in JULY 2002. I have dizziness, nausea, fatigue, some weight gain but changed diet and lost the extra 20 lbs. Of course, I realize the fatigue is due to the insomnia. I can be feeling OK and all of a sudden feel nausea, chills, sweats and have to lay down sometimes it last for days; other times just a few hours. I have a thumping in my throat with every heartbeat, which causes a headache. Am always complaining of lower back and joint pain. My eyesight is ever changing for the worst, has is my impotence. Open to natural ways to lower BP.

since taking diovan, 2 weeks 80 mg Bp has dropped, but delveloped swollen sore nipples, and dry eyes, this is not a good thing. will definately stop taking it.

Fatigue, insomnia, weight gain and have had two teeth break off. The worst thing is that I am so tired all the time. All I can do is make myself get off of the couch to do normal house work. Was told by Dr. that I was so tired because I am anemic. Decided to search Diovan and was completely surprised to find out how many people have the same side effects. Now I am pretty sure that Diovan is my problem. I have a call into the Dr. and he is suppose to call me back tomorrow.

I was on Lisonpril for three months, then switched to Diovan due to the cough caused by Lisonpril...but at least I could read that side effect in the prescription warning. There was no warning of weight gain with my current prescription of 1/2 pill a day(180mg). I have been on Diovan for three months and have cut caffeine and increased my exercise. At first the drug lowered my bp from 150/102 to 125/85 which I thought was great..but my bp has been slowly increasing. I started at 130 lbs and am now 150lbs...I have gained over 20lbs since starting the drug. I've experienced painful gas and insomnia. I am only 41 and two flights of stairs and I'm out of breath. A drug you take to make you feel better shouldn't make you feel worse. I'm going to try to use more natural methods.

I started taking Diovan about 9 years ago. At the time my doctor prescribed it because the medicine I had been on (Lotensin) was causing me to hack and cough (which was keeping me up all night long).

I started out at 80mg & then 3 years ago my bp began creeping up. I was then prescribed a 80mg dosage with 12.5 diurectic. I am now taking one 160mg/12.5 & one 80mg/12.5 pill each day.

Since I have been on Diovan I have experienced significant, yet unexplained weight gain (approximately 150 lbs), drastic hair loss, insomnia, itchy skin and more recently, brittle teeth (2 of which have broken off).

Over the years I have been blamed by the doctors for not taking control of my weight. Yet with swimming 4-5 days a week, walking & using an elliptical machine, and changing my diet (and eliminating processed/bleached food) I could only get down to 220lbs.

At this point, I do not know where to turn for advice. The doctors use more meds to mask the side effects of other meds & I have yet to find one that doesn't play into that mindset.

I've just been searching the internet because I was suspicious of Diovan that I have been using for about 2 yrs. Incredible! People are indicating the same problems that I have been experiencing for a few months now, and only getting worse. Severe joint pain, my arms and legs are very, very tender. I have problems sleeping at night, especially due to the pain in my legs. Just lying my legs on my mattress hurt my legs. I'm only 56 and I feel like I am 100!!! And the pain in my groin area when I walk is almost unbearable. I am calling my physician today to tell her what I have found and that I most get off Diovan. Lets see how I feel after a few days off Diovan. Some people experience much less pain just after 3 days! I hope this is true!!!! It is very difficult to live with such pain day in and day out.

It is 3 am and I am up as usual! Decided to look up Diovan as this is a new rx I am on for about 3mo..Lo and behold there it was insomnia is being experienced from other prople..WON'T let the Dr tell me it is my imagination..Was on another med and coughed my head off until a Dr friend in church said are you on an ace inhibitor? I replied yes Well guess what went off and no more coughing..What to do what to do?

Since taking Diovan for a year I have experienced extreme bloating, weight gain, muscle camps and tingling, nausea, fatigue and insomnia. My doctor says I complain lot.

HAIR LOST; ITCHY SKIN; INSOMNIA; BOTH SIDES HURT USUALLY WITH URINATION ONLY; BACK PAIN; LEG CRAMPS...I SAY IT'S JUST POISON, LIKE ALL MEDS!
