Extreme weight gain during the past three years on ambien and ambien cr. Unfortunately this is the only medication that helps with my insomnia; I've tried a bunch of different prescriptions and over the counter sleep meds...

ALTHOUGH AMBIENT HAS HELPED ME WITH MY SLEEP CYCLE, I HAVE GAINED AN EXCESS AMOUNT OF APPROX. 10 LBS. IN THREE MONTHS, MY DIET AND EXERCISE HABITS HAVEN'T CHANGED AND I WAS WONDERING HOW COULD I HAVE POSSIBLY GAINED SO MUCH WEIGHT IN SUCH LITTLE LIME. MY CONCLUSION.... AMBIENT! I'VE SINCE BEEN OFF AMBIENT BECAUSE IT HAS MIRACULOUSLY RESET MY SLEEP CYCLE, I AM GRATEFUL. VERY DISTURBED BY THE WEIGHT GAIN.

Developed sleep walking, eating, talking, running machinery and watching TV while I was supposedly asleep. This was witnessed by my niece who was very scared. It lasted for about an hour. This is not the first time but this is the first time someone witnessed it. I had suspected all along because I saw used dishes and empty containers in the kitchen in the morning. Have been off it for 3 days now and thank God. Never will I take it again although it seemed to work well for 2 years. I have gained so much weight from the night eating. That guy on the news who says he drove his car after taking Ambien, I now believe him!

I think some weight gain, which is why i checked this site. I"ve not had any other problem what-so-ever with the drug. I don't take it every night, only when I'm having trouble sleeping. It's been amazing. Actually, i usually take 1/2 of a 5mg pill, and although I may wake momentarily in the night, I don't have a problem falling back asleep, which w/o it, i would. I wake up for the most part refreshed. 6:45 a.m, has never been my friend, although with the ambien, I find I can get out of bed easier.

Been on Ambien for 3 years w/approval of dr for restless legs. I'm now weaning myself from it b/c of memory loss during the day, moodiness, acid reflex, injury to myself from falling out of chairs or bumping into things, eating in the middle of the night (weight gain of 20 lbs in last year) and surfing the internet to find that I have ordered or bought things I don't remember! Of course, most of those problems were b/c I would not go right to bed after taking it... but after a year, it would take longer to kick in, so I felt I could accomplish a few things, and then when it hit, go to bed. Ha! This drug is very addicting & can get you into some real trouble. Don't even get started on it. If you can't sleep try other alternatives.
