I had mirena placed in may08. Things went relatively well. However, I have had lots of cramping and low back pain. I have NO sex drive!! I have spotting for weeks at a time. I have lots of burning, here and there, when I pee, and lots of cramping after. I've been losing lots of hair. Recently, I've started having lots of clear, gooey discharge. And frequent bouts of nausea. And when I do have sex, OH MY GAWD!!! The pain after is unbearable. Often I get so much stomach and back pain, I vomit. This is not something for me.

Since being on Lexapro, I have no feelings of anxiety. In fact, I have no feelings at all. I am numb to everything it seems and I have little to no emotion - ever. In addition to being a zomby, I am hungry all of the time and I have no energy to do anything, but rest on the couch. I have been taking Lexapro for about 3-4 years and have gained about 30 pounds. Now that is depressing. I am slowly weaning myself off the drug now. I took 1 pill every other day for a month and now I am taking 1/2 every other day until my prescription is gone. I'm experiencing some additional side effects now. I am having mini panic attacks where my heart will race for about 5-10 minutes, restless legs where I need to keep moving them when I am trying to rest, hot flashes where I will sweat profusely, I'm very irritated at the smallest of occurences and the most strange side effect that I have not heard of previously is breast soreness - very painful. If anyone else is experiencing the same, please write about it, I would really like to know if this is common, how long it will last and if there is something else (natural) that I can take to help with weaning off Lexapro. Please help!!

I have been having horrible panic attacks, dizziness, feelings that things arent even real!, clamy hands, numbness feelings in my arms and legs, and even sometimes my lips! I has made me so depressed, I am so scared everyday from what is happening to me. I am stopping today, my doctor thinks it is the pill. This feeling has disrupted my life so bad and I hope to feel better as soon as the pill is OUT of my system.

Omg I am sooo relieved to have found this site! I seriously thought I was going crazy for a minute! Ok I just started this horrible BCP this past Thursday (5 days ago) and have already experienced most every symptom that goes along with taking this pill. I have had vision problems, VERY nauseous, extremely moody and b!tchy. I've seriously been thinking about breaking up with my boyfriend of 6 years over REALLY dumb reasons! I thought I was going to have an anxiety attack about twice since this weekend. I was thinking about making an appt with my PCP because I thought I may have some anxiety/depression issues, but after reading all of these comments, I think the solution to my problems are to switch BCP's. The only thing I can think that I haven't experienced is an increased appetite. I have actually not been hungry often since Thursday... which is amazing considering my eating habits lol. But considering all the other symptoms, I'd rather eat more than deal with all of the side effects. I'm sure this pill is great for some people since everyone reacts differently with different pills. But this one is NOT for me!

I am the mother of a 23 year old who has been on Yasmin for 5 months.
Her dermatologist perscribed it for her without blood tests for acne. She went to a gynocologist who did a blood panel and said her testosterone levels were four times the normal level and agreed with having her put on Yasmin. We as her parents were totally against this decision.

Since she has been on Yasmin she has suffered severe abdoninal pain with periods. She had an ultra sound and nothing was found. She then developed an infection in one eye. Very red and itchy. Took steroid cream for that. Then in July came down with strep throat. Antibiotics for that.
Since then she has had 3 bouts of strep. Every time she gets off
antibiotics she comes down with another bout within a week and a half.
She has also had a lynph node in her neck swell up to a huge size you
could easily see. Doctor said it was a byproduct of her strep.

She is now contemplating having her tonsils taken out. I am at my wits
end. I know all this chaos is from this pill and am trying to get her to get
off it. It is so sad and exhausting watching my previously healthy daughter go through this. And she still isn't convinced all this is due to Yasmin.

I have read so much on this pill. The doctor's hand it out like candy. Anyone got any words I might use to convince her to get off this killer?
Thanks.

I had been taking this pill for a month and a half, i'm 23 and my gp said it would be good for mood swings etc, in the first month i was constantly tearful with headaches, i felt better on my week break and then when i started back on it i got a rash covering my legs and the itching was unbearable, i also got pins and needles in my head and face, i stopped taking jasmin at this point and the rash went straight away alongwith the pins and needles/anxiety,im sure it was because of the pill.

I am calling to make an appointment to have my Mirena removed as I type this post. I've had bleeding off and on - mostly on- since inserting in late June, but my main issue is incredible mood swings. Feelings of being out of control, depression and anxiety. My husband pegged it. He noticed that I had not been so witchy before I got my mirena. To make things worse, once I get upset, I can't control it. It is almost like I am possessed. Just two short months ago, I was nothing like this. It is amazing what a different person I've become and I can't wait to get back to my old self!!!!

I can also be added to the list of those who have had stomach cramps and constant discharge.

Okay, I am 16, have never taken any birth control, and I am in my 3rd week of Loestrin. My doctor told me that if i started the pill on the first day of my period (august 1) that i would not have to wait to have UNPROTECTED sex, but to be safe, my boyfriend and I waited until august 7th to have sex, we also had sex on the 12th. Around the 15th I had some light pink discharge that lasted for 2 days...this worried me a little but i did not think much of it. Soon after that I started having back pains, cramps, nausea, headaches, my breasts are swollen, VERY tender, nipples are larger/darker, you can see the blue veins in them also. I have been picky about foods, discharge has increased, and have had terrible heartburn and have been extremely emotional. I have also had pains in my knees and ankles, and smells make me very sick to my stomach. I am very worried that I am pregnant.....but I am not supposed to get my period until the 28th so I have to wait...if anyone has been pregnant or had these symptoms on Loestrin PLEASE let me know....Thanks!

ilovetc007,

I agree with you, I don't have any kids, I'm 23 and have never suffered from anxiety attacks or chest pains and ever since on Mirena I have been feeling horrible. I feel tired all the time, can't sleep, panic attacks that have rushed me to the ER twice in the 6 weeks that I had the thing in me. I removed it today and will keep everyone posted on the aftermath

Most of us that use this seem to have it inserted soon after delivering our babies. Therefore it makes us wonder if it is postpartum depression or the IUD.
I had mind inserted on Aug 1 2008. I started back to work on Aug 4, 12 weeks postpartum. I kept thinking I was feeling so tired, depressed, tons of anxiety, basically not like myself at all, because of my new schedule of being a working mom. Well it has been only about 3 weeks and everyday I feel dizzy and tired at work. I have ridiculous anxiety that people are going to try to turn my baby against me. I have constant anxiety about my mother in law, when before she never really bothered me. I would consider myself severely depressed a lot of the time. We all have so many changes going on with having children but it does seem that it might be the IUD. I'll probably have it removed because I would rather have more children than be worthless to my family. I wanted to wait 5 years before having number 2... but do I want to be depressed and anxious all the time during my sons baby years? No thanks!

I had Mirena inserted one week ago and there was some minimal cramping directly after the insertion but I have had nothing ever since and I am hoping it remains that way. I am so sorry to hear of all the negative side effects that Mirena is causing some women but I am intrested in hearing some of the more positive feedback.

I have no side effects with this pill. It's regulated my period after years of it being sporadic, made them extremely lighter and hardly any cramping, which was also an issue. I honestly think the people who are having issues with this pill need to either find a better doctor or talk to them and see if they even know what they're doing. If you're having major problems with this pill, then you're highly sensitive to certain dose medications. Again something YOUR DOCTOR should have talked to you about or knew about in the first place.

It is 5 days since coming off of Yaz, after my "stroke" symptoms, ending up in the ER, and blood being clotted up, like sludge.
I finally am feeling better today. I woke up early this morning, feeling so good, that I realized how slow and bad I had felt when I was on that stuff. I was getting 8-9 hours of sleep each night, and still sluggish. Going to bed early, and having trouble getting up. When I think about how my blood was, while I was on Yaz, it make sense that i was so sluggish. And that now that I have been off of it, and taking an aspirin every day (to thin out my blood), I finally feel like my blood is running through my veins.
Please be sure to check with your doctor that this is not clotting your blood! I had no idea what to look for. I was only on it for 5 and a half weeks, and nearly had a stroke, with how clotted my blood was!

I am happy to say I have never and will never take NuvaRing, I myself am on Ortho-Tri and have been for 7yrs. But one of my dear friends is in the hospital fighting for her life due to this ring. She is now in her third surgery in the past few days because of numerous blood clots threw out her body due to starting NuvaRing 8 months ago. My suggestion if you are taking this and all drugs to keep a close eye on them. Her situation is become very serious. And she never had a single problem before now. And two beautiful children later she is left with a bad side effect. This is way a drug should not be EXPERIMENTAL on humans. Ladies please be couscous of your life and the FDA approved drugs!

I was given reglan to aid in digestion while I was being treated for chirosis, and had some negative effects from it, cant remember them now but was taken off of it. I still fight small bouts of depression and anxiety. Now I have to wonder why a doctor from a very reputable hospital would perscribe reglan to a patient with a long history of drinking (that alone is a depression symptom) a pill that has suicidal thoughts as a possible side effect of reglan.

Because I sleep so much, my back and ribs get so sore. Also, I feel like my muscles are weakening. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Does that make sense? I have had this disorder from the time I turned about 25. I am now 35. I have been to several Physicians and 90% think it's depression. However, the reason I'm depressed is because I'm so freaking tired. It takes everything I have to cook supper and wash dishes. I just wish there was a magic pill out there to diminish the effects of t...
