Hi all, I tried the Nuvaring for 3+ months and there was probably only a week in there where I could not feel it. I adjusted and adjusted and adjusted! I eventually took it out because I could feel it in there and all the way down to my vulva. I then ended up getting a burning feeling when I used soap on my vaginal area and sometimes even the water just hitting it made it hurt. I finally went in for a pap smear and brought up the side effects that I was still enduring--at this point it felt like little cuts might be springing up and healing on the vulvar skin--and my doctor suggested it might be lichen sclerosus. (By this time if it was just related to the Nuvaring, it would have subsided.) Heck, I don't want to think that that's what I have because it's not curable (it's inflammatory and likely hormonal) and I'll have to keep using steroid cream topically for ever it seems. The reason why I'm pretty sure I have it is that twice daily for 10 days now it has not cleared up. My doctor wouldn't make the connection with Nuvaring but a couple of searches I've done have found the two things written up together.

I am the mother of a 23 year old who has been on Yasmin for 5 months.
Her dermatologist prescribed it for her without blood tests for acne. She went to a gynecologist who did a blood panel and said her testosterone levels were four times the normal level and agreed with having her put on Yasmin. We as her parents were totally against this decision.

Since she has been on Yasmin she has suffered severe abdominal pain with periods. She had an ultra sound and nothing was found. She then developed an infection in one eye. Very red and itchy. Took steroid cream for that. Then in July came down with strep throat. Antibiotics for that.
Since then she has had 3 bouts of strep. Every time she gets off
antibiotics she comes down with another bout within a week and a half.
She has also had a lynph node in her neck swell up to a huge size you
could easily see. Doctor said it was a byproduct of her strep.

She is now contemplating having her tonsils taken out. I am at my wits
end. I know all this chaos is from this pill and am trying to get her to get
off it. It is so sad and exhausting watching my previously healthy daughter go through this. And she still isn't convinced all this is due to Yasmin.

I have read so much on this pill. The doctor's hand it out like candy. Anyone got any words I might use to convince her to get off this killer?
Thanks.

been on 20mg Omeprazole for well over a year & when i think back, i regularly have had a very bad rash round groin & armpits. Same doc prescribed steroid cream which kept it in check only. No mention that both only for short term use, I,ve just found that out on this & other Omeprazole websites! 3 weeks ago on Wed. night had normal itch on bum, scratched it, very sore, & carried on.By Sun am. I was at walk in center covered almost head to foot in large blotchy red rash unbearably itchy. After 2 duff diagnoses another GP at my practice took me off Omaprezole without really pointing the finger. The rash & itching have almost gone now after 2 weeks so he knew ok. Can only speak 4 myself but have very little faith in GPs & chemicals now. Someone on this site says try teaspoon Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar after meals which ties in with hints on " Miracle Cure 4 a Fee" sites elsewhere. Here,s hoping! Will update.

This website has been a blessing for me - a person who seemed to feel crazy for all the symptoms I was having. I had mirena put in place in March 2008 after the birth of my second child in December. I was so excited that I didn't have to worry about birth control - I could focus on taking care of my family and work, etc. I couldn't have been more wrong about it. All was fine at first until April of 08 (two months later). I started to notice a red, bumpy rash on the trunk of my body. It progressively got worse with each passing day. It began to look like hives on my legs (behind my knees) and then on the inside of my arms. It has gone all over my back and finally to my face last night. I looked at the mirena website and it said to call your doctor if you had a rash with hives. So I did and they assured me that mirena WAS NOT systemic and couldn't be the problem. They maintained that it was probably an outside source. Instead they offered an anti-depressant. I needed something to help with what I was going through, so I started on Lexapro. That has been the only positive thing that has kept me from falling apart. What's the use in calling them if they don't listen to you? I have finally decided to have the mirena taken out in two days. I am so ready to get back to feeling normal. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there with similar side effects with the rash. If someone would have told me that this was a possibility, I would never have signed up for this!!!!!!
I will post again once I have it out and give an update!!

I went to the dermatologist and was diagnosed with a severe case of hives/rash. Has anyone ever been prescribed Singulair in combination with Xyzal for hives? He also prescribed Tagamet for the stomach problems apparently these two drugs can cause. I am very afraid to take this but talked to two different doctors that are telling me to take my medicine and are getting angry at me for not wanting to take it an are getting impatient with me for being scared about it and asking questions. I was also prescribed a Lidex cream that has steroids in it even after telling the doctor that I just got off Prednisone for a sinus infection last month and had a really bad reaction to the Prednisone (steroid). He still gave me the steroid cream and said "this is a topical you won't have any side effects with this and your reaction couldn't possibly have been from the Prednisone, it had to be from the antibiotic" If anyone has heard of or taken the combination of Xyzal and Singulair for hives or skin problems please post me a response before I go get these prescriptions filled. All four of these will cost me almost $100 because the Xyzal is $40 and the Singulair is $25, they do not offer a generic for these two money makers. I have insurance and still will cost me a hundred for all four (steroid cream and Tagamet as well). Please someone let me know about this combo and if you have been given for hives as well. I don't know why I am given the Singulair at all. It causes hives in some people from what I have been reading. I can see the Xyzal because it is an antihistamine, that's fine but the Singulair seems to be a cause of hives. Doctor mentioned something about H1 and H2 inhibitors or something but said it so fast and speaks with such an accent I couldn't understand what he was trying to tell me. Please help before I get really bad reaction and have to go to ER like last month with the Prednisone. Thank you and God Bless.

The outside of my eyelids continue to itch with some burning at times. Steroid cream hasn't stopped it. They get cracked and slightly scaly looking.

I am a 55 year old male, active and mostly physically fit. I have been taking Singulair for 10 years and my asthma has been reasonably well controlled most of the time. Already after 6 months of taking the drug I noticed a tendency of easy bruising, fragile skin and bleeding but my doctor never thought this had anything to do with Singulair but rather because of my prolonged usage of steroid creams for my eczema. However, the bruising never seemed to coincide with the areas of my body where I had mainly used steroid cream. About three weeks ago I decided to stop taking Singulair and I also discovered that bruising and bleeding are mentioned as possible side effects of the drug.

After I stopped taking Singulair I have not had any further bruises and my skin seems stronger.

My mother was given avelox for a bronchial infection appoximately one week ago. Within 3 days she developed large pustules on her arms, legs, neck and a few on her trunk. She suffered from dizziness, memory loss, confusion and paranoia. She had panick attacks due to the itching which was severe. A trip to redi care brought no help, the staff said they had never seen anything like it and provided a topical steroid cream. Her family physician who prescribed the drug did not seem concerned at all. She is depressed and has had dizzy spells causing her to fall. My mother is 76 and although not as sharp as she used to be she is very concerned about any long term damage this drug may have caused. I am attempting to get her in to another clinic for treatment as her primary DO acts as though the whole thing is no big deal. The area worst effected is behind her knees and on the inside of her arms. I have read the side effects regarding tendonitis and tendon damage and am very concerned.

Dear Guest 43038,

Stop taking the Yasmin.

Itchy skin is a sign of an allergic reaction which many women have had to this pill and to Yaz.

If your period also hasn't stopped, it is due to the change in hormones (Yasmin has extremely low doses of artificial/synthetic hormones -as are birth control pills are not natural, and they suppress your own natural hormones. Not good that your period has not stopped. Again, another sign that you should stop taking the Yasmin.

The feeling down and moody again direct connection to the loss of iron having your period for 14 days, the extremely low hormones that have replaced your own natural hormones.

Leg cramps are also not good-and could be a risk for thrombosis (common report and risk of taking Yasmin as well as other bcp's-Yasmin has a higher risk of this-clotting).

You know what to do. Just listen to what your body is telling you. You don't need a doctor to let you know that. There are many risks associated with this pill-just see all the notes on this site in the forum and posted side effects. There is also another site-Yasmin Survivors (link posted throughout this site) with many women that will support your coming off of it.

My boyfriend has recently started using Triamcinolone Acetonide USP, 0.1% (Topical Cream) for a little rash around his nose and mouth. It is really strange because every time he applies this stuff he turns into a different person!! Yesterday he put a little on and then just started being horribally mean! I have NEVER seen him act like this! He was in my face screaming at me. I understand that sometimes I may get on his nerves but last night I had cooked him dinner, watched some of an old movie, I did the dishes, and he just came up to me out of NOWHERE and started acting like a young teen going through puberty! He was making no sence. Just screaming, throwing a fit! I think it is from this steroid cream... and all the other stuff I have read... Bad stuff...

I have been taking 40mg prednisone every other day for myasthenia gravis, Isaw My doctor yesterday due to a bright re rash that is barely raide..not real itchy is spreading from start point of inside my arms..like opposite elbows. It is also under my breasts, in my belly button. He seemed stumped and thought it might be a side effect of prednisone catching up with me . I have a steroid cream he has me applyin 2 x day and now it is on my neck this am and I AM SEEING TINY BLISTERS AND different shapes.

I wonder if I could have a systemic fungus or infection the prednisone hides and how do you tell if you have a prednisone rash or fungal infectio, '

Thank you, Joan G

I have several as I was on prednizone for about 8 years almost every day..Im 54 and have had cataract surgery on both eyes at the ages of 42 and 46. I have swelling of the genitals that tend to stay with me for weeks at a time, tremendous muscle aches, as well as tiny sores that appear randomly on my body and hurt terribly.Ive had the thinning of the skin due to steroid cream use, its been and still is a constant thing with me. I still have the terrible itching and watering of the eczema that leads to these areas eventually bleeding. I would appreciate any help with finding a specialist that deals with steroid side effects.. Thanks ! Jeff

I must say, I'm sure glad my friend found this discussion forum for me. I had severe contact dermatitis that had gotten infected. The doctor prescribed a topical steroid cream to me, as well as a 7 day supply of levaquin. I've noticed since I started taking levaquin last week, that I've been "jittery", and haven't been myself. I missed my pill yesterday, and felt even more strange than normal (withdrawl perhaps?) I took another pill this morning, and the shaking/slight light-headed-ness, and swelling are back. I'm taking myself off of levaquin starting immediately. Having only taken 5 500mg doses, will these effects wear off fairly quickly once I stop taking it? I don't have insurance, therefore I don't have any income right now (I work construction).

Thanks for anything.

Thomas
