I was on prednisone while getting over pnemonia to help with my breathing. I was only on it for 7 days and the doctor didn't have me go off of it gradually. I missed the last dose on the 7th day and by bedtime, my muscles were sore enough it almost hurt to lay down. I took the last pill that night before I went to bed and had no muscle soreness in the morning. After that, the muscle soreness came back, along with dizziness. My pulse was also higher than normal. Two days later at night, I was still having muscle soreness and dizziness, although not nearly as but, but I was having a lot of trouble breathing and my pulse would refuse to go below 100 no matter what I did and the problems continued throught the night. The next morning I went to the clinic that prescribed me the predisone because the information they gave me said to see a doctor if these problems persisted. I told them I thought I might be having a predisone withdrawl because my mother, a nurse, said it was the most likely problem from experience. They completely ignored that saying it had been several days since I've stopped the steriod and kept asking me about my asthma (inhalers weren't working and it was definiately not an asthma attack -- I've had plenty of those, to all different degrees) and ended up giving me medicine for anxiety, which helped the closing of my throat, but none of my other symptoms. Three days later, my resting pulse is down to 80, but my breathing is so much worse than it would be with just my normal asthma and taking my inhalers as much as is allowed. I had no noticable symptoms when I was on the predisone except being less able to sleep. If it keeps up, I intend to go to a different doctor to see what is really happening, but I don't think it's 'normal' to have the withdrawl symptoms for this long after only having it for 7 days. I know I took it when I was younger (I'm 22), but I don't remember ever having issues going off of it before.

I was put on Cipro for 10 days for a sinus infection and it did nothing so I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Avelox. I took my prescribed dose of 1 400 mg tablet once daily and after the third dose began to feel some very strange sensations. I started cramping and hurting from my elbows to my finger tips as well as I started having night sweats, tremors/jerking when trying to go to sleep which is another story in itself. I may have gotten 9 hours sleep in 4 days. All of this over a sinus infection. I guess we are simply being lab rats for the Rx companies.

Hi,

Fist off I'm a fit 38 year old male, not overweight, don't smoke, occasional social drinker.

I've been taking Lisinopril since being diagnosed with high blood pressure in Feb 08, I was started on a dose of 5mg, which was then increased to 10mg and finally 20mg.

The Lisinopril never really got my high blood pressure under control and my Doctor has now switched me to Bendroflumethiazide, only been on those for about a week so have to see how they go.

Lisinopril certainly made me feel terrible:-

Constant Fatigue
Depressed
Foggy
No concentration
Dizzy
Tinnitus
Pounding headaches

if you feel like this then I'd go and see your Doctor and try something else

I'm on my seventh day out of 10 with BiaxinXL 500mg for pneumonia. I take 2 pills at supper time and so far so good: only 1 diarrhea 12 hours after the first dose. No metallic taste at all. I do drink a lot of water as is recommended when you have any infection to help your body eliminate it. I sleep well and after only 2 days of treatment my secretions were clearer. I took Advil for the first four days to help me with the side effects of the disease. I take medication exceptionally because, fortunately, I am rarely sick but I will take all of the pills prescribed by my doctor because I don't want to deal with some super resistant bacteria later on.

The more posts I read, the more I'm beginning to wonder if Effexor is causing some of my physical problems. I have DEFINITELY had the weight gain (40+lbs), low libido, horrible night sweats, very dry scalp. The vertigo went away as well as the extreme fatigue but I still sleep a lot. I remember when I first started it, however, that I almost got into a car accident because I dozed off while I was driving; when I woke up I was going 80 and was in the other lane (thank God no one else was on the road near me). I do feel somewhat better but this is a drug to use with caution in my opinion. I will be discussing weaning off of it with my dr. sooner than later.

I am 22 and I just started taking femcon almost 3 months ago. I haven't been on birth control in over 2 years and the first month was ok but recently i have been having diarrhea, stomach pains, headaches, heart flutters, and general aches and pains and extreme breast tenderness. Also, when i started taking it 3 months ago i discovered a nickel size dry patch on my neck and in to my face that is itchy, but it is only in that one spot and it wasn't there till i started the meds. I seem to have normal periods which last about 3-4 days, but they are lighter than normal which is good, but I just don't feel right on this medication. I don't know... it is strange... almost like i am anxious about being on it and i never even read the comments and concerns about this med until just now. I have also had trouble getting to sleep at night as well. I want to quit taking them but i am in the middle of my 3rd month...can i quit now? I need to quit them!

I'm on Biaxin for a respiratory infection as well, the worst side effect by far is the severe insomnia, and crazy dreams I get when I finally DO fall asleep - and the sleep I get isn't restful at all. I also have turned into a "bed tosser" - I toss and turn all night because I can't sleep comfortably in one position all night (I usually fall asleep and wake up in the same position, and maybe turn once a night.) Its like all of a sudden I get sore being in any one position for more than an hour. Drives me nuts.

I have the dent at the injection site too. I have been so worried it was skin cancer. I recently saw the same doctor and asked about it and she told me it was probably a scar from when I was little! I told her it showed up in August. She said not to worry and she would do a biopsy if it got bigger. She even had in her records I was there for the kenalog shot in summer. I had the shot in early July. Please inform me of any class action law suit. I am now wondering if this also was the cause to my lack of sleep and loss of 20 pounds over the summer. I was not informed of any negative side effects.
Thanks

I started taking Lipitor 3 weeks ago. I have pains in my chest on the right side and I am so paranoid from this drug that I can't sleep. I also have pain in my hip and I am always getting hot in the face. It feels like my head is being squeezed. I have tried to get off of it, but then I feel pains in my chest and I take it again. I have been to the emergency room for pains in my chest. I took an EKG and an Xray. They found nothing. I also went to a cardiologist . He took an EKG found nothing but told me to take it for 3 month sand it if my cholesterol went down he would take me off the drug. But I am afraid that after three months. it will be too late to get off the drug.

Attention!
I used Lupron protocol for IVF the last year 07. I began to have side effects a couple of weeks after I finish it. I had hot flashes, headache, insomnia and gain weight. However, on October 07 I began with burning sensation in both legs, which do not allow me to sleep or rest during the night or day. I went with 2 neurologists and I had a lot of blood tests done, also 2 nerve conduction study, 3 MRI… and until now November 08, No diagnosis. The burning sensation in my legs is not a joke! I need to try to keep my legs cool or my life is miserable, even in the winter my legs and feet are hot. I soak my feet almost every night in bucket of cold water and ice because they are practically burning. This year on November 08 I received again lupron as microdosis lupron protocol. Immediately, I begin to have the hot flashes 5 or 6 days after start it. The last year was after few weeks to finish the protocol. Also, the burning sensation in my legs is worst this second time. For a couple of weeks before use the Lupron again, the sensation in my legs was very light. Actually I cannot sleep at night and normally I wake up during the night because my legs feel on fire. Please if someone knows more about it, write in this blog. We need to figure out what is going on.

I am a 56 yr old female, placed on Lisinopril in lieu of Atelenol, which I have been taking along with HCTZ for a least 5 years. BP was 148/83, Dr. thinks still too high so Lisinopril it is. I was on it for a week and I, too, developed some really annoying side effects. Dry, almost spastic cough, especially at night when I attempt to sleep. Have been on the sofa for over two weeks to avoid disturbing my other half's sleep with my constant coughing. The Lisinopril makes me tired anyway but with the lack of sleep, I am exhausted. I am also an Multiple Sclerosis patient and fatigue is a big factor of the disease so lack of sleep is not good. I had the perpetual headache everyday, not debilitating but enough to ruin your day. Also felt extremely dizzy, to the point of feeling like I could pass out when I raised my head. The newest symptom, is a sore tongue. Feels like I have many cuts on the front of my tongue which foods and drink irritate but there is nothing there. Dr. has taken me off saying that I am experiencing an allergy to Ace Inhibitors and switched me over to another med called Benecare. Have not taken one yet and will do so along with the Atelenol so don't know how it will be but just wanted to share the allergy concept about Ace Inhibitors.

i had the iud put in about a month ago when i had it put in i did not feel a thing which my doctor told me that was because it was only 3 weeks after having a child since then i have really bad acne , heavy bleeding to the point i have to sleep with dog training pads just so i don't destroy my bed. no sex drive at all, i have a rash all over my arms, stomach, and legs, migraines but i get those a lot any way, cramping to the point that i am not able to sleep, mood swings like crazy, not wanting to be involved at all with my one month old... if i had to do it all over again i would not have this done even though i cant remember to take the pill i like the side affects that happened with it than the iud that i have now.

I have been having difficulty with my legs from the knees down since taking Remeron for over a year. Normal walking is a chore, but let me get in a department or grocery store and I am in such agony with leg pain from the knee to my ankles. It is a heavy, throbbing ache. Pain pills, heat and sleep is the only cure. Never had this problem before this. If I ween myself off them, my migraines come back with a vengence.

Man oh man. This is the worst experience of my life to this date. I'm 20 years old. An awesome person in my own opinion, but really just fell off the cliff. I just wrote an entire page of how I have been feeling lately to my mother and father with no intentions of giving it to them. Its basically explaining that if I do not wake up tomorrow that its because of this drug (doxy). It has made me so depressed that I cannot bare it any longer and I refuse to take any more of this. I can handle depression but actually sitting here and physically writing a letter is not something I would every do healthy.

I feel exhausted and I don't want to do anything. my stomach is fine but I have gotten sores on my tongue and a blister. I thought I may had picked up an STD from the only girl I have ever been with for my first time about 2 1/2 months ago but everything came back negative after I had already been taking the drug for 5 days. Now I have no clue whats wrong with me and this drug isn't curing my symptoms, its only adding on and making me feel terrible. I do not fear of doing anything to myself but I cant get over the fact that Im going to spontaneously pass in my sleep or something messed up. In fact writing this entire thing is completely unlike me. Depression is a powerful thing.

I will cause no harm to myself, but I think that anyone less educated about depression would. I really feel like if I didn't know everything was normal I would be ready for something to end my life. So I hope other people who are as severely depressed as I am will read this an know that its not the end and you just have to sort everything out.

I have only been taking Toprol xl 50mg. for a few days, but i notice a difference already. (I take this to block migraines.) I feel out of it when i take this drug. I cannot sleep anymore! i cant fall asleep... and when i finally do, i am up a few hours later. I have been having weird dreams. (not about spiders, but other vivid, crazy dreams) Do you get used to the drug after a while and are able to sleep???? anyone know?? I have problems with anxiety and depression... and i think that lack of sleep would only add to that. I know that since i started taking toprol, i have mood swings like crazy. I will be happy and having a good time, then i will just switch and starting going off the handle. (about the littlest things too) So i ask, why do we take these drugs if we cant sleep, eat, think, have mood swings, etc???

i had my mirena placed about a month ago. my ob has one and she said she loves it and it is better than the shot or pills. so i thought i could give it a try. i didn't have a normal delivery and had to have a c-section. when we went to have the mirena placed the nurse told me that normally you still need to be dilated for the placement...and i wasn't. so needless to say the placement was horrible!! i had extreme cramping when she put it in, it felt like she was stapling it in(seriously), and i also felt the urge to pee all over her....oh it was horrible!!!! and that wasn't even the first of it. not only am i bleeding like crazy with HUGE clots, i had felt like the mirena moved cause i could feel the threads poking out. so i made an appt to go in, so they do a internal ultrasound and it was in place but the threads had mysteriously grown....my ob trimmed the threads and said that the bleeding will go away. (it still hasn't) this past week i have debilitating migraines and HORRIBLE cramps i have never had them before, so i look up side effects and i found this site and thank god i did. i also noticed that i am in a fog, like i am out of it all the time and all i want to do is sleep. and on top of all of that it feels like there is a rake inside my hoo-ha!! my husband and i have not had sex since it was placed. he is afraid it will hurt him...i don't blame him...it hurts me!! i can't believe i had this done!!! i am calling this morning to have it removed, i just wish i knew about this before!!!

I have been taking Remeron for about 14 months. I have gained about 12 pounds. It's almost like a compulsion to eat. Don't get me wrong I already liked to eat but at this point I have a crazy urge. I started having night sweats. I used to sleep with a lot of covers and that is ABSOLUTELY not possible any more. I've also noticed that I sweat more during the day. I was never a person who sweat a lot and this is totally new to me. But I sleep very soundly and that was the initial reason to start taking the meds.

Because of a couple tragedies that ocurred in my life, I was unable to sleep. Ambien was prescribed and with it, I woke up completely rested! BUT there were several dangerous events to share with you.

I drove several times & have no recollection! If it weren't for receipts, checks, etc. I wouldn't know anything about it! I'm a married woman and I took a male acquaintance to a liquor store 1/2 hour away once!
I drove to a city an hour from my home at least once!

Additionally, I've had phone conversations, conducted business meetings, taught a religion class...ALL with no knowledge or memory of these acts.

Yes, I would find dirty dishes in the sink in the morning too! I ate so much food! I didn't gain weight though...probably because the Ambien also removed ALL inhibitions in my life. My husband selfishly took complete advantage of this...if you know what I mean. This was not right! I'm still angry about this. It wasn't until he realized that I was driving in my sleep that he encouraged me not to take the Ambien anymore...I haven't taken it for two years. I do miss it because it really left me rested. Now I only take over-the-counter products and they leave me groggy.

I've been on Paxil for almost 9 years. I suppose it's a success for me because it has kept the depression away most of these past years. I'm on the maximum dose - 40 mg a day.

I've always been an over-achiever, a type A personality, friendly...with the Paxil I am lazy, no longer care about details, VERY friendly.
My home used to be pristine and comfortable....now I rarely put things away, there are stacks of books, magazines, and 'stuff' everywhere. Because of the mess, we haven't had visitors in our home for YEARS! I used to host parties on a regular basis in our home but these days I would die of embarrassment if anyone saw my home!

My memory is shot...I can't remember names, faces, details...seriously, I can watch a movie over and over again because I NEVER remember the ending!

My sleep cycle is shot as well. In years past, I only required about 5 hours of sleep. On Paxil, I don't fall asleep so I take lots of over-the-counter sleep aids to fall asleep and they knock me out...I can't wake up until almost noon!

I MUST take the Paxil at the same time each day otherwise the "zapping" starts. It isn't painful...just very annoying.

On the positive side, I have achieved many great things because I'm no longer apprehensive about public speaking. I've chaired several successful fundraisers for charities. But because the memory loss has become so profound, I'm no longer capable of chairing these types of events.

I've gained weight but it may be due to having thyroid cancer & having the entire gland removed...metabolism is shot.

I've only tried to go off the Paxil once but the depression resurfaced immediately and I cried for days on end...it was frightening! Of course I went back on it.

Speaking of crying, when on Paxil, it's almost impossible to cry! The tears just won't come.

Now for the really scary part...the effect of the Paxil on my depression is not what it used to be....but I'm on the maximum dose! I've tried several other meds but they just don't work as well. So what in the world will happen when it doesn't work for me anymore? That black hole called depression is the last place I want to be.

I'm 43 years old, 5'3" and weigh 165lbs. My doctor started me with Zocor 40mg. I stopped sleeping through the night about a week after taking it, but thought it was work/stress related. About 2 weeks after taking it, I could only sleep for about 3-4 hours, wake up, and then lay about another 2-3 hours hoping for sleep again. I didn't think any of this was drug related. After two months of insomnia, I began suffering very bad neck and back pain. It felt like someone stabbed me in my spine and it was excrutiating to roll over or get out of bed. I thought maybe it was my bed/pillow. I ran out of Zocor and my symptoms went away in about a week. I figured this was all stress related. After a month off, my doctor insisted on increasing my dosage to 80mg. Within 2 weeks of the increased dosage, the insomnia returned, my eye developed a "twitch," and I started feeling pains/aches again in my neck, shoulder and back. I refuse to take this drug further.

Hi, I am a 45 year old male with high cholesterol. prescribed 20mg. of Lipitor to control it. Am having a strange twitching muscle in my right calf since I started the meds. Forearms hurt, trouble sleeping, twitching in my sleep, apparently, tiredness. I'm worried about going off it. My dad died of a heart attack. Would it hurt to try going off it for about 3 months?
