My OBGYN prescribe this for me for a cysts in my ovary about 3 months ago I didn't take it went to see a acupuncturist/Chinese medicine doctor instead. After 3 months went back to my OBGYN for a ultra sound the cysts did shrink but yet he still wants me to take this pill to clear out fibroids and really get rid of the cysts he says. After reading these experience I know this is not for me my body and I will not be able to handle the depression, mood swings etc. Just drinking coffee makes my mood swing can you imagine what this pill would do, I can. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

On September 9th, 2008, I had the mirena inserted and it was horrible. My right ovary felt like it had exploded and a burst of burning pain radiated down my leg. I broke out into a sweat, felt dizzy, and nauseated. The doctor said they never had that reaction before and had me lay down until I felt better. The doctor wanted to do an ultrasound, right then, but the doctors that did the ultrasounds were not available, so she gave me a Motrin and told me to go to the emergency room if I had severe pain or bleeding. She sent me home. This THING is constantly on my mind since I had it put in. I hate it!! I am tired all the time, headaches, bloating, dry eyes, back pain, hair loss, constant feeling of being in a fog, cramps everyday, and the burning pain I experienced during insertion comes back more and more frequently. My ovary and leg hurt me so bad that I feel like I'm going to pass out. Two weeks after insertion I went in to have the strings trimmed and let the doctor know my symptoms-she looked puzzled and made me feel like I was crazy, but suggested that we have an ultrasound done, so she scheduled me an appointment for it-two weeks later. I had a follow up with the doctor one week after that and she said everything looked fine and to take ibuprofen for the pain. I went back three weeks later to have my strings trimmed-again. She was amazed that they seemed longer than they were the first time she trimmed them. She said that it was either "settling" lower, or it was falling out. She did an internal exam, but did not feel it, so she suggested that I at least give it another month before I consider taking it out. I agreed because I paid a lot of money for it and my options are limited. Since my last visit, I've been researching mirena a bit and was surprised to hear that so many women have been experiencing these side effects. I plan on having the mirena removed, but have been researching tubal ligation as my next step. Then I ran into something called tubal ligation syndrome, which has side effects that I am currently experiencing. I talked to my boyfriend about all of this last night and he has agreed to have a vasectomy. The bad thing about that is I have to wait for him to have it done and wait until his sperm count is at zero. That could take a month or more! The good thing is that I won't have to think or worry about getting pregnant anymore and I won't have some foreign piece of hormonal plastic in my body any longer. I will never recommend the mirena to anyone-ever!

I got mine inserted in May of '08. After reading this I can now understand why I have been like this. My hair has fallen out, my face looks like a 13 year old, I bled for almost 5 months straight. I have been nauseous, irritable, tired, and super uncomfortable. Major back pain, abdomen pain, weak, and dizzy. I have a bad history of ovarian cysts and as a result only have about 1/2 of my right ovary. It feels as though my cysts have gotten worse, I can barely move. I called the Dr. and they are doing an ultrasound to see about the placement. I have been a basket case, I swear I was more stable as a pregnant person! I told the nurse that I was thinking of having it removed and she said that this is all normal for the first 2-4 months, hello its been 6!
Not recommending this to anyone, including my worst enemy, I have yet to see a shorter easier cycle and less cramps.

Well, I have fibroid tumors and I also just lost an ovary because it had a large dermoid tumor. My doctor suggested the ring for me because it could help balance the hormones from the fibroid and keep me from ovulating which could contribute to me developing cysts or another dermoid on my one remaining ovary. I have been on the ring and I loved it at first. Before the ring my period was coming every 14 days with horrible symptoms. With the ring my period was coming once a month, with very little cramping. Then other side effects have started, first my hair started thinning, every time I washed my hair I would pull out a bunch. Then I gained almost 8 pounds. Now I have terrible insomnia, moodiness and depression. I seriously have not understood what was wrong with me until I came to this website. I will call my doctor tomorrow.

I'm writing in behalf of my 15 year old daughter who is trying loestrin24fe to get some relief from her back pain and migraine headaches (which she inherited from me). She had a full period after just 10 days and has had a non-stop headache since starting this pill that won't stop even with her migraine medicine. I know it takes time for bodies to adjust, each is different and the doctor says give it 3 months- but she is considering just stopping because her headaches are so bad. I'm just not sure she can hold out for 2 and a half more months to give it a good try. Her acne is a lot worse too. Moody- yes, this was another thing we were hoping the pill would help with but hasn't. I'm sure this site is biased for people having problems since if it's working okay- why look up information on it? In any case, 30 years ago the lowest dose pill made me depressed, I barely made the 3 month mark before I stopped and I thought it would be different now. I have spent years before and after having kids using an IUD, and for me, that has always been the greatest birth control!

I started Loestrin over one month and a half ago. I was put on Loestrin as a way to regulate my hormones and hopefully get rid of a cyst on my ovary. I hate these pills. I have two weeks left to go but have decided to stop the pills. My period was regular before I started the pills 6 weeks ago, but in 6 weeks I have had periodic bleeding at least once a week. My cycle was late and lasted 8 days compared to the 4 it usually lasts. Last week when I had an episode of bleeding (lasted one day) my back was spasming and cramping like crazy. I have never had back spasms or cramps in my back before these pills. I also have lymphedema in my lower legs and it has been acting up like crazy. I am having headaches that last for days. My emotions are also being affected. I will never take these pills again and I will think twice before taking any other pills. I am hoping that after a couple of weeks my body will return to normal.

If you like yourself, DO NOT choose this form of birth control!!!!!! I experienced several side effects almost immediately within my first cycle of this "should be outlawed" drug including a cyst on my ovary that burst (PAINFUL!!!!!), very hormonal PMS and periods (like going through puberty again), heavy bleeding and clotting, swelling like I experienced after delivering my children - yes, even sitting was uncomfortable, painful intercourse, muscle aches, and cramping like afterbirth. Most of these symptoms subsided after I did the math and freed myself of this health hazard. All I have described sound hormone related and logical but wait, there is more . . . while on the NuvaRing, I also developed a tumor in my leg that attached to my bone and required surgery. I was blessed that it was benign but at first was told it was malignant by bone tumor specialists from three leading Manhattan Hospitals! My children were 3 and 1 at the time so you can imagine how I felt! Also, a condition that has not gone away after 1 year and 4 months of no more NuvaRing is chronic sinus problems. These sinus problems first developed when I made the mistake of using this venomous drug. I myself thought there could be no correlation until I went on line and read that other women suffered with sinus issues after using the NuvaRing. I have developed sinusitis that I've had no luck in treating holistically and these severe infections have been resilient to most antibiotics. I've finally faced this sinus issue and have scheduled a CT scan and ENT appointment for next week so I hope I can get to the root of the problem as I am sick of feeling sick! By the way, I'm extremely fit, a very healthy eater, and was in GREAT health before use of the NuvaRing! I'm writing this because I would not wish my experience on anyone and wish I had read comments like this PRIOR to making this poor decision. I so dislike this drug that I have to turn-off the TV when the commercial comes on. Again if you like yourself, DO NOT use the NuvaRing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a 25 year old female. I received my first shot August '07. I had noticed an increase of nausea but blamed it on stress. In October '07 I was hospitalized for a week! I had SEVERE nausea/vomiting and horrific pelvic pain, on my right side only. I received the 2nd and 3rd shots, and none of it connected for me until my grandma asked me if all my health problems occurred AFTER the shots began. Since the beginning of the series, I've been in an out of the ER with severe pain and nausea/vomiting. I had an exploratory laparotomy last November. My Ob/Gyn said she found "spots" on my right ovary and under my uterus. She biopsied 1, said it wasn't endometriosis, but gave me the treatment (Lupron) for it anyway to try it out to see it it helped. Lupron effectively shuts down your reproductive system. I was on the therapy for 9 months, and for 8 months I was essentially pain free (yay! right?) But the pain is back now, worse than before. My Ob/Gyn thinks she misdiagnosed me now. Awesome. I'm taking a combination of Indocin, Ibuprofen, Relafen and when I have it, Vicodin, to help with the pain. I stopped the birth control pills, they've been no help. So now its time to try and find a way to fix me. I hope there is a way. I do believe this is all because of Gardasil.

I know how everyone of you feel, every side effect you have mentioned I have had. My Mirena was put in Dec 2007, was my last effort to stop the many years of heavy, painful periods and of course birth control. I have recently learned I have a cyst on each ovary 2.7 left side & 4.2 right side. March 05 I was tested for endometris, was negative, saw the results from this test recently there was a cyst on each ovary in the 2's. Any of you that read the small print on the articles for advertisement you will see it states cyst can develop with use but will go away after removal. In my case they were already there but my doctor still put it in without ever considering the cyst already there and what could happen. Did the Mirena cause it to grow? Will probably never know the answer. Either way I have to have the cysts removed, and maybe if I am lucky I won't lose the right one, they are concerned with the size. This is the OB/Gyn office that I have been with for 14 years and delivered both of my kids that suggested I get the Mirena. With everything that has happened I can not trust them and I have seeked other doctors to fix my now bigger problem.

I am 18 years old and I've been on birth control since the age of 15. Why so young? I was raped shortly after my 15th birthday. I was on Estrostep for awhile and loved it, but I ran out and have yet to find more of it. I was then started on Ortho-Tricylen and had been on it for almost 2 years when I noticed something wasn't right. I went to the doctor and they sent me straight to the hospital after having an abnormal ultrasound. Long story short, I had a cyst on my right ovary the size of a tennis ball and my doctor diagnosed me with endometriosis phase 2. I was scheduled to have surgery that following morning. I was in so much pain that I was hoping this one surgery would fix it all. They had to remove my appendix and burn a lot of scar tissue and whatnot to fix me up. After surgery, my doctor told me that I was ate up pretty bad with endo, and that they didn't want to have to do a total hysterectomy on an 18 year old. I don't have any kids, but I have hopes to someday have a couple. He started me on Femcon Fe right away, saying that this would control my endo cell growth. I have been on it for almost 5 months now and it's the worst pill I've ever taken! I have all the side effects listed on the package. The worst of them are breast tenderness, heavy spotting, nausea, vomiting, headaches, acne, weight gain, and severe moodiness. I can't take this anymore! I missed two pills one weekend and ended up back in the hospital because I started gushing blood that looked like black water. I don't know what else to do, so I'm quitting them. I took my last one Wednesday. I will be returning to the doctor next week and seeing if I can get back on Estrostep. I want my body back! I really hope all of you out there on this pill read this and stop immediately!! It's not safe!

Hello everyone. After getting my period two weeks ago I have been bleeding for the past 5 days as well. I have tremendous breast tenderness as well. However, I have been on the pill for 15 months now. The spotting between periods has been going on for about 6 months now. I mentioned it to my primary dr about 4 months ago. long story short I have a cyst on my right ovary, and a complex cyst on my left ovary. Needless to say I will be having surgery on November 12th. First to remove the cysts, possibly the ovaries. If I can tell any one message this is it..."Listen to your bodies ladies!" You know your body better than anyone else. I originally went on the pill because I had polycystic ovarian syndrome and here I am getting ready to have cysts removed. I am not trying to scare anyone, but make sure the pros out weigh the cons while considering staying on this pill. I have to wear a pad everyday because I don't know when I am going to have breakthrough bleeding. This is very frustrating and I hope it will be resolved after surgery? Not sure if I will continue on birth control following surgery. I am 36 yrs old and I am at my wits end. When I heard about everyone being sensitive, or crying at the drop of a hat I have to say I was relieved. Maybe I am not crazy! Good Luck and please take care of your bodies! You are your best advocate. Thanks for listening.

The only medication i take is Wellbutrin Xl low dosage. I don't know if this is actually FROM the Wellbutrin, but about 9 months ago, i developed urinary tract symptoms of chronic urination. I have to go to the bathroom dozens of times a day , and at night I get up 6-7 times to pee. Full bladder pees.
I do drink more water during the day, as i get dry mouth from the medication, but this is not just related to water, because if i stop drinking more water, this will still occur. I'm in good health and my doctor told me I am too young to have urinary dysfunctions that come in older age. There is nothing found by ultrasounds. I Was wondering if anyone else on WELLBUTRIN XL is experiencing this as well. Also, recently I had a sudden increase in my blood pressure. I don't have a history of this.
I am 49 yrs old, white female and in generally good health.
I would not fail to mention that Wellbutrin XL is an excellent Antidepressant, the best of any of the others i have tried over the years. I am almost fully functioning, but still working on my issues.
I actually have felt emotions that were happy and positive on a recent basis after many years of "numbness". this drug has not had any headaches, anxiety causing, that wheel spinning or disorientation those other antidepressants had for me. I had to stop taking more than 8 different antidepressants in the past.
I'm just mostly wondering about urinary dysfunction issues. Please post if you are using this and having this.

I reluctantly had mirena implanted in Nov. 06, shortly after the birth of my son. It was more economical than the pill. Initially, I experienced spotting, cramping and low libido. It was mostly a nuisance at first but during the following months, I jut grew to feel unwell each and every day. The cramping became much more severe, and it felt like I grew cysts on my right ovary. My period occured on a bi-weekly basis, low libido became absolutely no libido -- which caused issues in my marriage, when I gave in to appease my husband, sex was often painful or uncomfortable; my abdomen felt bloated and tender, I always had headaches, sinus issues; usually had an intense pain in my lower back which would radiate to my hips, my hair was thinning out at an alarming rate, the hormones gave me a manly appearance -- bleaching my new " mustache " became routine, the hair under my arms and on my legs grew twice as fast, irritability was frequent. All these things were affecting me daily, which becomes ridiculous after a while... I don't take a lot of medications so I narrowed down possible culprits. I googled mirena and identified with women on several different forums. I reasoned that this IUD is still relatively new so the verdict is just coming in. Having realized this much, I'm nervous to learn in more detail what long term effects this contraception may have.
Mine was removed last week! Immediately I felt my uterus deflate. I have lost a pound in the last 8 days. Removal was difficult and painful, it gravitated upward. Ultrasound was necessary in locating it. I was afraid if I left it in much longer I would've needed surgery to get it out. I am grateful that wasn't the case.
I don't think doctors are maliciously pushing it on women. They only make a small amount of money for each prescription. I think from their standpoint it is theoretically an ideal form of contraception. In practice however it is a nightmare for a lot of women. I was astonished that so many women posted similar side effects. It cannot be coincidence. Think about it, it's plastic. The body tries to attack an invasive object, but it gets mixed messages from the hormones. It's completely unnatural and dangerous!

In December i had a cyst on my ovary rupture. i went to the hospital after waiting it out for 3 weeks and the doctor recommended i be put on birth control to regulate the cysts. i didn't have health insurance until July..so i made an appointment and went in to see the doctor. he recommended i be put on birth control due to heavy and very long periods, clotting, cystic ovaries, and horrific cramps. i started the pill and instantly became a crazy..i mean BEYOND moody. on top of the mood swings, i had morning sickness, nausea throughout the day, instant breast tenderness (they grew from a B to a C in a week!), and my entire body ached. i couldn't get out of bed in the morning for the first few days i was on it. i spotted every day for the entire pack. when it came time for the sugar pills, i didn't have a period. i waited 4 days and started a new pack.
with the second pack came depression, lack of personality, lack of sex drive, when i'd engage in intercourse it would hurt too much to do anything and afterwords i'd cramp like i was going to start my period..i became lazy and unmotivated. at the end of the second pack, i had yet to have a period although i spotted frequently. i talked to my friend about it and she said to wait it out. so i waited 2 weeks..had a very light period and decided i would start the 3rd pack. i started the pack and got 4 pills in..missed a day..and when i went to the bathroom yesterday morning i had 2 clots the size of a dime. i started cramping to the point of not being able to stand up straight. my appetite is nonexistent. two periods in one month..it's starting to make me wonder if i'm having a miscarriage. my lower back is killing me. i refuse to take anymore pills. i'm going to completely take myself off of birth control.
i know that birth control is supposed to make your body think you're pregnant to cease the possibility of conception. at this point i'd rather risk conception and have a child than go through what i have gone through with Lo24 again.

Ok i have read some of the post and now i am a bit scared about what i have done to myself. I had this put in Sept 23 2008 so i have only had it for about a week. I have two children 18 months old and 2 months old i am 22 years old and cant afford to have any children let alone any more children. So i chose mirena since i got pregnant with my children on the pill and the patches pill with my last one and the patch with the first one.
I paid 878.38 to have it put in and so far i have noticed that i have some poking and sometimes stabbing pain in that area and i have really bad gas and i am afraid to push to have a bm scared that i might push it out since the cervix is still dialiated. so far i don't want to have it removed but wanted to know.
Has anyone had it fall out?
and also what about weight gain, face compelxion,
Im not so worried about sex drive i didn't have one with my boyfriend before i had it put in. I lost my sex drive after i had my daughter who is 2 months old i actually lost it before i had her so thats not a major concern of mine that i think has a lot to do with bi polor anyways and the meds i take. And i haven't noticed any changes in depression maybe because i already take 3 different meds for manic bi polar syndrome.
I have notice some pimples popped up on my chest in the last few days but i thought that could be due to the heat and i was out side for a few days doing a yard sale.
Does anyone have any advice.

I have had Mirena since June 2007. Since January 2008 I have had nothing but problems. I have had numerous ovarian cysts that cause excruciating pain from my lower abdomen and back all the way down my legs. My doctor that put it in (a male) swears up and down that my cysts and pain are not related to the Mirena. I got a a second opinion today (a female) who says the Mirena ABSOLUTELY can cause my problems and that she has taken more out than she has put in. I loved the Mirena in the beginning because it did stop my periods. But then I started noticing weight gain and no matter what I cannot get it off. Then the abdominal pain and the lower back pain. I go for another ultrasound next week to see how big my current cyst is and if it is restricting blood flow to my ovary. If there isn't any blood flow I will have to have the cyst, and my ovary, surgically removed. I don't recommend Mirena to ANYONE!

I was put on Yasmin not for birth control but for the beginning of fertility treatments. I was on Yasmin only 1 months. After about 2 days I started getting symptoms. I called the Pharmacist and my fertility doctor and they both told me the pill wasn't the culprit. But after the 20th day I just couldn't take it anymore I went off of it. After starting Yasmin I had TERRIBLE Panic attacks, Anxiety ( still have to this day two months later), Heart Palpitations, leg cramps, boobs hurt, breathing trouble ( still to this day), HORRIBLE thoughts, adrenaline rushes all hours of the day, tingling in my hands and feet, my mind feels fuzzy, no appetite, no sex drive, depression, crying fits for hours, I felt like i was going insane.... You name it I had it. I stopped the pill two months ago and I still have the horrible anxiety/attacks, feel like i cant breath properly, OCD about my breathing.
I went to the hospital and got checked for blood clots in my lungs, legs, Asthma test, EKG, blood tested, was put on heart monitor all came back normal. I have started seeing a therapist, on depression meds and none of it is working. I feel like this pill has ruined my life and i wasn't even trying to stop life i was trying to help create it.
Here i am two months after stopping the pill and yes some of the stuff has went away but i still suffer with Anxiety from the time i wake up in the morning till the time I go to bed at night. And sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety. My head is getting a little clearer and I am not as depressed as before. But I am just praying that this anxiety goes away. I have NEVER been a person who can't handle stress or gets anxiety/panic attacks and since it started it hasn't stopped. I am so very weak, muscles ache so much which i think is from the anxiety attacks and the muscles tightening.
So if you have this... you are not alone! I am suffering with it everyday. It is so debilitating I cant do much. Has anyone else had this months after stopping Yasmin?

I am 24 with 2 children and had mirena inserted in February after going crazy with implanon. I have never really tolerated the pill either and this was the last option. 2 weeks later I was in excruciating pain in my stomach that i could barely look after my kids. My stomach was so distended i looked about 8 months pregnant. After tolerating the pain for a few days i went to my doctor and she sent me for a pelvic ultrasound. they found cysts on each ovary. 1 measured 3 inches in diameter and the other 1 was slightly smaller. Even after they dissolved i was in pain for at least a month afterwards due to my bowels and bladder being pushed around. Since then I have had no problems (touch wood) I have had minor cysts in the past but not to this extent and after doing some research found that mirena caused it. I have opted to leave it in for the time being as i am not having any other side effects that i know of from it. But if I end up getting cysts again I will definitely be getting it taken out.

I was absolutely miserable on lupron. It all started with a softball sized cyst on my L. ovary that burst and landed me in the hospital from the pain. I didn't even know it was there! The Dr. went in to take it out with the scope, and told me that I had stage 3 endometriosis. I never had any pain, so I find it hard to believe that I even had endo. At any rate, he told me in order for it not to come back, I would have to go on Lupron. He told me I may have some hot flashes and vaginal dryness..I read the brochure on it and I thought the side effects would be worth saving my reproductive tract.
I gained 30 lbs during my 4 months on lupron. The hot flashes were terrible, I would have 2 or 3 in an hour, drip sweat, and then freeze. The vaginal dryness was so bad it itched internally, I had to use massive amounts of lube to have sex--which was nearly impossible because my boyfriend couldnt stand to sleep with me constantly moving around, dripping sweat, throwing blankets on and off. I began to have anxiety attacks and terrible mood swings.
I wouldn't recommend this medication to anyone, ever. I was on the monthly dose, refused to stay on the medication after 4 months (June), and just finally got my period a few days ago. I still get occasional hot flashes, especially during or after drinking alcohol. I am doing about an 1 1/2 hours of cardio a day, besides using my bike for transportation, eat clean 90% of the time, and weight train a few days a week. The scale is not budging and I've been at that for about 6 weeks. It is frustrating to say the least. Does anyone know how long it takes your body to get back to normal??

Here is our daughter's story, and believe me the tears are pouring down my face as I am writing this.
Our daughter, who had completed her series of 3 vaccinations has been experiencing considerable hair loss. Her first shot was in May 24, 2007, the second on July 26, 2007 and the third and final on November 27, 2007.
Here are the other specifics....our daughter was 13 turning fourteen.
She has had every blood test imaginable to rule out the obvious which may cause hair loss such as thyroid disease, polycystic ovary disease, diabetes, and the list goes on and on. Everything came back negative. We even have a future appointment scheduled with a rheumatologist this coming November 08. We have seen the Endocrinologist and two dermatologists (a scalp biopsy proved negative to any infection, disease, etc. Granted, she had a typical amount of stress during the school year, as any young teen would, but nothing to cause this. Everyday our daughter says to us, "you should see how much hair fell out in the shower today". She's so afraid to brush or comb it because of the extreme shedding. She literally, to date has half the amount of hair she had one year ago. Let me tell you she had beautiful hair. The hair loss is becoming quite visible at the forward part of her scalp. This has been devastating, hair is everything to a teen. (to anyone this is devastating) We must also mention that her periods have been totally out of whack. She went 6 months at one point without one. It finally came back, but it is so sporadic, getting every two weeks, at times extremely heavy, etc...
She also complains of intermitent dizziness. We are reporting this to Merck today (the Co. who makes this horriffic vaccine), along with the FDA. If anyone else is experiencing anything close to what we are, we all need to pull together and make the public aware of what's happening so we can prevent this from happening to our loved ones.
Please share your experiences. Feel free to write me if someone you know is going through this same tragedy.

I have to say I'm really, really bad with taking pills, so nuvaring is pretty much my only option as far as birth control goes. (plus I'm getting married soon, so I'm hoping that it's not the ring)
I've had Nuvaring in for 9 days now (my first time using it) and I've begun noticing some odd things. I can't say I'm super-attuned to my body, so I'm not sure if it's the ring or not.
My gynecologist says I have Poly-Cystic-Ovarian-Syndrome, which means I probably have cysts on my ovaries. I'm also overweight. Recently I've noticed cramping and pain on my right ovary. I've also noticed slight depression, but I'm also going through finals, so not sure there either. I'm experiencing little pinches of pain in different spots all over my body, especially in my arms, legs, and back. I also had an unexplained nosebleed out of the blue this week, and I've never had one before. (no nose trauma or anything) I'm also noticing I'm bruising very easily, but I'm not sure at all if that is recent. Are these side effects of the nuvaring, or something more serious and unrelated? (or else just stress maybe?)

MY STORY
My Mirena was removed on 29th May 2008.
I had the Mirena put in four years ago,I had terrible pain the day after, it was that bad I was going to go to the hospital Emergency to get the thing out but I put up(the worst thing I done in my life, Im paying for it now) with it and it and the pain got a bit better, had a lot of bleeding (spotting) for the first six months and then it finally went away. For the first year I thought Mirena was Great but then the problems started.I started to gain a lot of weight, facial hair,Very sore breasts, I also had a lump removed from my left breast a couple of years ago, but I didn't know until recently that it was most likely caused by Mirena. Some of the other problems I had, My stomach bloated, I look like I'm six months pregnant ,I have a cyst on my left ovary, dry skin, acne, strange depression, headaches, and the Worst of all I had to have my Thyroids REMOVED on 1st Nov 2006 and I'm pretty sure that was caused by Mirena as well, so now I have to take thyroid Medication for the rest of my life,I had the Mirena removed as soon as I done some searching on the internet for my unexplained medical problems, mainly my weight as I had weighed about the same my whole adult life and now I had put on a few stone and now I have to try and lose it,as for my thyroid I have trouble getting the Meds right its a real pain, blood tests all the time.I just don't feel I have much left in my life, depressed, sick all the time. I eat well as I have high cholesterol so its not that I over ate,I noticed you do feel a lot more like eating sweet things. I found a site called ****** and found out there are thousands of woman, girls with the same problems as myself and that there is a class action law suit going on to Sue. Its worth having a look at this site it helped me a lot.I feel so bad I don't go out anymore I don't see friends or family I'm to depressed about my weight now. I am in the process of trying to find out if there is a Class Action Law Suit in Australia. If anyone knows of a Class Action in Australia could they Please let me know. After having the Mirena removed about 6 weeks ago I thought I was doing ok only a bit of spotting, but about 3 weeks after having it removed I got my period and the pain was unbearable,I was in agony stomach cramps and I bleed so much I thought I was going to die from blood loss, also the scariest was the huge blood clots, very scary, must of been four years of period in 1 week I couldn't believe how bad it was, I felt really sick and weak, but thank goodness its eased off now after a week. I just hope now I might slowly start and feel like my old self. Im also on medication for heart palpitations,I get Heart palpitations (SVT) a few times a week,I had my heart palpitations just after my thyroid removal op and was put on ecg and my heart rate was 176 Beats per Minute I was rushed to Intensive Care and I had to have an injection called Impending Doom (It makes you feel you are going to die) to slow my heart rate,it worked and I was kept in intensive car for 3 days, very scary thing to go through I hope I never have to go through that again,my heart palpitations got worse while I was on Mirena and now I also take Magnesium to help control them as well as Metoprolol which I have been on for some years and I recently read that if you are on Mirena it increases the side effects of Metoprolol.
So if you have had any bad experiences with Mirena please let us know,it will help others with their problems, hopefully. I just wish I never got Mirena and my advice is DON'T its not Worth the risk,if the Doctors had of told me about the BAD side effects I would NEVER of had it put in. Sorry about going on so long, Good Luck to you all,
Thanks Net.

UPDATE
I have had it out nearly 3 months now my painful breasts feel normal again,I haven't lost any weight yet, but will soon hopefully,I do feel a lot better but still get some of the symptoms back just before my period.
I get sooo mad when i think of what Mirena done to me and all the other women and how bad some of their side effects have been. I get mad when i read some of the other ladies stories and the terrible things they have gone through ,
Perforations,Miscarriages,IUD's lost in their body,
Hystorectomy, and the rest. I want to wish them all the best, and we WILL get Better and Bayer ,Mirena will PAY some day for what they have done to US..

I started taking Femcon right after I had my left ovary removed and I had found out i had endometriosis. I also was very nauseous, fatigued did not have the ebergy to do anything. Another one of the effects I had after taking for about 3 months I started loosing my hair in wads at a time..I quit taking the pills after I bled 12 days straight and on average at the most is 3-4 days. This pill made me feel very depressed and it was hard to lose weight. Now that I have been off Femcon my attitude has improved and I am back on my work out regimen but my hair is still falling out.

im on warfarin 3.5 mg everyday since nov 2007 because a pulmonary embolism and a second one on jan 2008 while on therapeutic INR. in march 2008 i had a massive bleeding in my ovary and had an emergency operation to remove the blood from my belly. I have serious anemia, 2 years now, and i am feeling that my life is being wasted away!!! I have serious pain on my neck and back and my left arm is really sore i cam barely move it. I have no energy at all and i am surprised of how i have been trying to get extra energy from where there is nothing left!!!.
I am not sure that those symptoms are relted to warfarin, all I know is that I didn't feel this way before!! And I don't really know how bad it is to have anemia and at the same time be on warfarin.
I also want to be me again!!!

I got my Mirena inserted in May 2008. I thought this was great since I am horrible at remembering to take the pill. I am 29 and have tried numerous BC. According to my GYN at the time, I was informed I would not experience weight gain and very minimal periods along with occasional cramping. I understand everyone is different. Well, the weight gain was much a lie as I have gained 40 pounds since the Mirena was inserted. My lifestyle has not changed. It took me a year and a half to loose 60 pounds and 6 months to put most of it back on. I encounter two periods a month and they last 7 days. The cramping can be horrendous. I am more tired than I usually would be but being a mother of two I do not have time to think about it. What concerns me the most is after intercourse I experience horrible sharp uterine pains and I begin to bleed. I feel the Mirena poke/stab me during intercourse but try not to let it affect mine and my partners relationship. Don't get me wrong, he is very understanding. The last time we had intercourse (2 days ago) I experienced strange clots which seem to be a bit more than just blood clots and since then I have had a pain around my left ovary area. It has left my lower abdomen area tender. I made an appt. in 2 weeks to have the Mirena removed. Have anyone experienced the after intercourse pain and/or bleeding?
