This is a warning to those of you who are going off of Yasmin in an attempt to get pregnant! (along with a few other issues)

I was on Yasmin for almost 3 years, and I'd like to first say that I had SO many stomach issues since being on it that I had eventually been sent to a gastroenterologist by my GP. My gynocologist swore up and down that Yasmin could in no way be the reasoning for my stomach issues (nausea, motion sickness, diarrhea etc) however, I've recently gone off of Yasmin in an attempt to get pregnant. Here's where my huge problem comes into play... About a week and a half after going off of the pill I started having severe dizzy spells as well as fatigue. These symptoms persisted for the next 2 weeks or so and then about 4 days before I was supposed to get my period I started experiencing intense cramps. Of course my fiance and I were a little bit disappointed because this meant that those side effects meant we hadn't successfully conceived. So a few days go back, as does the usual Wednesday that I receive my period. So Thursday I decided to take a pregnancy test and to our complete and utter surprise it came out positive! We were so excited, as were our friends and families. So again, a few days go by (and I never got my period) and my cramps persisted night and day. Then I started experiencing sickness at night time when I tried to go to bed. We of course thought this was due to the pregnancy. Then Monday at about 4AM I woke up in complete and utter pain and went to the bathroom and came to find out I was bleeding. We completely panicked thinking I was miscarrying. I ended up spending that entire day in the hospital and later the next day we found out I was never pregnant. We had gone through a river of emotions within those 2 days and although we were very glad we hadn't miscarried, it was also devastating to realize we were not yet pregnant. False positives are very rare, and I'd have to say that they SUCK. So watch out girls, and make sure to go to the doctors for a blood test ASAP before getting too excited. Just wanted to let you all know.

As for us, we're going to keep on trying and hoping for the best. I of course never intend on going back on Yasmin as I've discovered I've been completely wasting my and my gastroenterologist's time due to this medication.

My Dad has had colon surgery. Levaquin was prescribed. My Dad is 84. He was doing very well for several days, then went off the deep-end. He had hallucinations and aggressive behavior to name a few of many, many side effects. He thought they were trying to kill him. Unhooked all the intravenous and oxygen tubes and left. They caught him at the stairs. Had to sedate him and tie him down. My Dad did not know me nor my brother.

He has been off the intravenous drug for several days. While better, he is still working off the effects.

He has had many of the listed side effects, however, with the colon surgery how much is part surgery and part drug as far as nausea, stomach pains, bowel issues, vomiting, is a guess. However, he went from doing very well to a mess.

I am a 27 year old who has been on birth control for the past 11 years. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen for the majority of that time until my sophomore year of college when the doctor suggested I switch to the "shot". Depo Provera caused me to bleed continuously for several months on end and I was then switched back to pills by my new gynecologist. He placed me on a generic form of the ortho which again worked wonders for several years. At 25, I started bleeding constantly from the generic and was switched to several Loestrin 24 which completely stopped the breakthrough bleeding... initially. After a year of it, we were back to constant bleeding. The ONLY side effect I have ever experienced from birth control is breakthrough bleeding. I moved cities and with a new town came a new doctor who thought Femcon might work. I was prescribed it in May and have been taking it for nearly 6 months. Over that time I have been so happy with it as there is no bleeding except when there should be. That is until I read today that my increased anxiety (I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder to begin with), vivid, realistic nightmares, and 15 lb weight gain could be caused by this pill. I am getting married in January and my dress barely fits at this point because of the weight gain. I go to the gym 5 days a week for cardio and weight training yet keep getting fatter... I thought I was stressed out by the wedding and that is what was causing my emotional imbalance... I really thought I was losing it. I just called my gyno and left a VM asking if this could be the reason... Don't quit taking a birth control based on other peoples reports, they are all going to react differently to different people and all meds come with an initial side effect that goes away once your body is accustomed to having that hormone or chemical in it. Initial nausea is common... I have always had it when I started a new medication, especially birth control. It goes away after a couple of weeks. Will keep you posted.

I've been taking Omeprazole 40mg's once daily for two weeks now. I'm 28 years old and up until September have never been sick a day in my life. After an endoscopy, was diagnosed with a "hiatal hernia" after months of a mysterious vomiting syndrome and put on this drug by my Gastroenterologist.

The first week and a half was great, it was able to control my vomiting. But now, after thirteen days of taking the drug, I've been feeling incredibly fatigued over my whole body, like the way you feel the day after you lift weights. Stabbing pains in my ribs, chest and abdomen that come and go. The feeling in my stomach of being "eaten" from the inside out. It's horrible.

Like others, I've also been getting quick, stabbing headaches that come and go in a flash. Joint pain. Muscle cramps. Bloating. Depression. Waking multiple times in the middle of the night. Strange and vivid dreams. Severe nausea in the morning when I wake up. It's all really, really weird. And as of last night, my vomiting has relapsed. Keep in mind, I've NEVER experienced ANYTHING like these symptoms before in my life.

I've got a follow-up appointment scheduled with my doctor in three days and I intend to get off of this stuff immediately.

I just started Yaz 2 weeks ago and have been miserable. I have never had side effects like this. I have been blaming the nausea, neck and back pains, stomach pains, exhaustion, and everything else on other things such as being sick or a cold or viral something and then this weekend I got leg pains too and a severe headache all weekend. I did bleed all last week one week after I started Yaz and it was only a week and a half since my last period so I knew that was abnormal for me too. I did still take the pill this morning and then googled this morning and found all these similar side effects online. I just called my doctor and will be stopping today from taking this. I will find something else to take such as ortho tri cylcen which I had taken for 9 yrs before and had no problems ever.

Everyone has had really good point above me. Effexor is not a good drug. It causes ridiculous itching, nausea, stomach pain, etc. I already have enough stomach pain with my endometriosis, and now I effexor to make it worse. I haven't attempted to get off of it yet, but I hope it is not near as bad as some people have said. I don't want to put my wonderful fiance through that. It's not fair to him nor me. I would suggest to all, make sure you really need medication, and if you REALLY think you do, possibly try a different kind before trying this one (effexor).

After reading this I feel inclined to write. I am a 35 year old mother of 2. I decided to use NuvaRing as my bc after having the morena (sp?) IUD taken out due to weight gain and excessive acne. I was really excited about the ring as pills make me feel pregnant i.e. go to bed early and force myself to eat saltines.
I have in the past 4+ years of being on this drug noticed huge mood swings and definite lowered sex drive. This is suppose to be my sexual prime and man, I feel like a dead fish. I am recently separated and filing for divorce so it is interesting to think that all my husbands comments about my mood, over the years, may have been directly due to the NuvaRing. I thought that he was being insensitive (which he has always been guilty of).
Don't get me wrong...my marriage was abviously not strong enough to withstand such hormonal turmoil especially for this length of time, however, this is all very interesting. I have felt rageful around ovulation time. I cannot keep from yelling. Also prior to my period I am again feeling a little crazy. I had excessive eating and drinking due to depression but some of that could be my unhappy relationship.
I did have leg cramps mostly at night that I did not understand. Nausea seems to hit mostly at night and headaches were something that happened off and on. The fatigue I remember off and on over the years.
I believe that I was one of the first people to try this drug and was very happy with it. I always recommend it to others. I thought it was wonderful. I did go off at one point and remembered why I need regulation...My periods are long, heavy, painful, horrible and irregular.
I am due to put the ring back in tomorrow, however I will be heading down the road of recovery alone, with out my beloved NuvaRing that may have led me astray long ago.

To make a very long story short, I took this medication for 3 days for a sinus infection and misdiagnosed bronchitis. I was diagnosed on Friday with regional pain disorder. Has anyone else heard of this? My doctor is also saying I have a herniated disc and fractured tailbone, this was also news to me, no pain until after taking the Levaquin and the only back pain I have is leftover from EMC/ECV testing. Also when will the nausea go away? The pain medications seem to be helping with the insomnia, but now I have crazy dreams and just want to get off of this ride. Any help with this would be appreciated as I'm not sure how much more I can stand.

I have been prescribed cipro 2x for diverticulitis and has adverse reactions (after completing the recommended prescription) to dairy and fruits (citrus acid). When another bout of diverticulitis occurred, I asked my doctor not to give me cipro. He does some research and prescribes levaquin. I completed the prescription and now more than ever have adverse reactions to dairy and fruits and anything that has whey or citric acid in it. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg of exactly what I am allergic to. I have done extensive research of the adverse reactions from cipro and levaquin which for me once I eat these particular foods is extreme case of hives and skin rash. I have to take benydral. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it does not. I went to my gastroenterologist and allergist with complaints from taking these drugs and they have told me they have never had anyone come to them with complaints. Who are we kidding? With all the reading I have done, these drugs are poison. Although I know I am among the extreme side effect category, I need help and I can't get it anywhere. I have also read that these quinolone antibiotics are given to the animals, foul and fish that we eat. So does that mean we are ingesting extra quinolone into our systems when all we want to do is have it wear off? My wife feels that we should eat organic meats. I tried organic milk and I have reacted to it. I just want a bowl of cereal and a normal cup of coffee. Whey also gives me hives. Whey is in almost everything and so is citric acid as preservatives. If there are anyone of you out there that is or has experience similar to what I am, please let me know. My doctors cannot help me,nor do they seem to really even care. My wife has given them a lot of information she has been downloading from the computer. Hope this wears off soon. Every time I take one step forward, I wind up taking two steps back. Where is the help out there that we need? Since we are the minority who suffers from these drugs, doctors don't care until they have to deal with it. What is wrong with our medical society?

I think it is very important to point out that most people posting on here only come with bad experiences, as those are the ones people are passionate enough to write about. Personally, I have been on the Nuvaring for several months now, and I absolutely love it. I experienced no nausea or headaches. The only thing I experiences was mild fatigue for the first month or so, but that resolved itself. I understand that not everyone has the same experience, but just recognize that everyone is always going to have some sort of problem with every single birth control method out there. You will never know what works for you until you try it. I know several women who use the Nuvaring and not one of them has a bad thing to say about it. So really, give it a try!

I was given Levaquin after a post surgical Staph infection was confirmed. I too had the side effects described by so many others. Extreme muscle aches, joint pain even in my fingers, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, dizziness. My Dr. said to try to fight through it because the Staph infection needed thia particular antibiotic to cure it. I am 5 days into my 10 day dose and I can't keep taking the pills. I am scared and don't want to end up in the hospital again. He tried to give me a prescription for Bactrim but I said no because i can't take it. I have worse side effects with it than I have the Levaquin. I can't stay wake for more then 1 hour and I dose off but wake up with 15 minutes feeling drained. I can't walk very far without my legs feeling like jello. My WHOLE BODY HURTS!!

My granddaughter at my suggestion took her first Gardasil shot in Oct,
immediately her arm turned splotchy red and raise like jagged rocks. The
nurse was concerned but the PA was not. Now, I have read more on this
shot and my granddaughter and I have decided not to have the other 2
because the truth is she is a virgin and plans to stay that way. Also, this
week she had chest pains and they told her it was a pulled muscle. She
was so tired she slept for hours. She has also had nausea and diarrhea.
I would think long and hard before I took my daughter or
granddaughter to get these shots.. cjr

I am very confused now what to do. I came to my computer because I have been so emotional lately I cry at everything. Commercials, songs, I mean EVERYTHING. Tonight I started crying and couldn't stop. I have NEVER been this depressed in my life. I thought maybe it was the weather, the change of life ( I got married May 31st) I admit that probably has something to do with it, but there is no reason to cry at everything. I haven't been feeling very well lately but did not contribute it to the mirena at all. Now I'm not sure. I got the mirena in June 2007. It was painful to put in for me but I have not had a child so it did hurt but I knew it would. Before I got it put in I did so much research, talked to the Dr. I work for, women at work who had one and the gyno that put it in. All had good things to say, it sounded perfect because I am bad at taking pills, allergic to latex and had horrible reactions to the NuvaRing so there isn't a whole lot left. At first things were good, I had messed up periods but nothing bad so I just coped. I have been feeling nausea, ab pain, cramps, pain in my sides and back, dizziness, bloating, the belly "pooch" , hair loss, acne, no sex drive, just really run down and so emotional. I have been contributing it to everything I could think of and didn't even consider the mirena for causing those symptoms until I saw this site. I really don't know what to do though because my husband and I are not ready for a child but I can't really use anything else. I want to give it more time because its so easy but I don't know if I or my husband can take these emotions. I really am crying over everything. I know these symptoms are rare and supposed to lessen but I can't put up with this much longer i don't know what to do. If anyone has feel like they got over these or they just get worse or if you recommend I remove them please let me know. Thank You

I just started Cymbalta yesterday...after having the Mirena in for two months, removed last week thankfully, I was then diagnosed with Fibromayagia. The Mirena made my migraines worse, I had terrible mood swings, irritated very easily, etc. I'm a 38 year old mom of 3 kids and I cannot keep living with mood swings and aches and pains constantly. I heard good things about Cymbalta and hope it works for me...last night I felt nausea and developed a bad headache, stayed up most of the night. Today, just very tired, feeling ok, a little calmer...I have NO appetite what so ever..I feel full actually. I am going to give it a fair shot and then write back...I know my system just needs to adjust..starting out at 30, after 2 weeks, moving up to 60. We'll take it one day at a time I guess. I find it amazing reading all of these blogs..everyone reactions are so alike and different at the same time! Good luck All!

I was prescribed Bactrim for a UTI. I took it around 6 and by 8 I was face down the toilet bowl. I had some of the worst nausea and vomiting I have ever had in my life (and believe me, I had the worst morning sickness when I was pregnant. I was so bad I had to be hospitalized. This was worse than that). Even water made me vomit. I couldn't sleep. I could eat ice chips and that was it. My entire body hurt. Not very nice with a newborn to care for. I was afraid to take my next dose, but I'm toughing it out.

I took Wellbutrin 300 mg for two years before to quit smoking and for mild depression. After the initial (weeks 2-4) side effects of nausea, dizziness and headaches - I felt great. Not drugged and not overly emotional. I had been crying all the time and felt hopeless. I felt much better (and didn't want to smoke at all). I quit it for about 2 years and now I am back on Wellbutrin for the last 7 months. I started with Cymbalta - but hated the loss of sex drive (not able to orgasm - so who wants to have sex, right?) and felt drugged. So Wellbutrin was a welcome "old friend" I didn't have bad side effects with switching and have been pretty happy. EXCEPT for the one very scary side effect that I have experienced just a handful of times - but I really am curious if anyone else has had this HEAD TRIP WHILE DRIVING: It has happened when I'm on the interstate and/or bridge when I am driving at fast speeds, and my head feels whoozie all of the sudden and my brain seems to shift sideways - like on a roller-coaster, up and down, sideways - and I am amazed that my hands don't go with it and drive me into the wall! It takes intense concentration and wheel gripping to get myself where I can pull off the road. What the?? I don't want to ever experience this again - but it is so OCCASIONAL. The only variable I can think of is that I have not been faithfully taking the WB at the same time everyday (I'm more and more forgetful) and have skipped a day. Has ANYONE ELSE had a similar experience???

During the three weeks I was using 150 mg. Wellbutrin, ringing in the ears gradually increased, mild headaches on top of my head, occasional light spasms around my mouth, constipation, and bladder problems. My sleep was unaffected, and my depression did not lift. My dose was increased to 300 mg, and by the fourth day, I was having serious facial spasms, intense headaches, louder and constant ringing in the ears, almost 'round-the-clock wakefulness, anxiety, difficulty thinking and completing sentences, pounding heart, amplification of sounds, jitters and quaking. I felt like a car, perpetually idling so roughly that all my parts were about to rattle right off the chassis. On the fifth day I took nothing. I've had some chills, a little nausea, headache, neck-ache (Isn't that weird?!) and some ringing, but at a lower volume that's hardly noticeable. This is the fourth day with no Wellbutrin, and I haven't had facial spasms at all in the past couple of days, have less nausea, and the very funky smell produced in my urine from the second week I was on the meds has calmed down. If I'm still in a depression it's been overshadowed by the most awful side effects I could have imagined. It felt like the spector of death was overtaking my body by day four of that 300 mg. dose. I had been on a hefty dose of Zoloft daily for almost ten years and never experienced anything unpleasant other than weight gain, my reason for trying to switch meds because I couldn't quit putting on weight no matter what. I am going to try SAM-e, and suggest that anyone looking for a natural alternative, with the prospect of few and insignificant side effects, do an online search. Whether I find success with the SAM-e, or if it falls short of what I need, I'll post here to let you know what happens. A month ago I thought the depression was the end of the world; I think the cure was worse than the disease.

I take a Lactaid tablet in the morning before I drink my coffee or tea with milk in it. I get a sore stomach and feel nausea for about an hour or so, then it goes away. I get progressively better during the day.

When I take a tablet with milk for dinner, it doesn't happen. I am wondering if it is the combination of the Lactaid pill and the coffee and the tea that is doing it. By the way, both are decaf!!

So I am going to cut out the Lactaid and tea and/or coffee in the morning and see what happens.

Hello Ladies,

I just had my Mirena inserted on 11/7/2008, and since the insertion I had experienced some side effects as well. For the first time in my life I had experienced the worst anxiety attack ever. It lasted three days... three whole days... The day after insertion my husband took me right to the ER. The er doctor said it was from the anesthesia, gave me Ativan IV and sent me home with a pill in case it didn't get better... After the anxiety attack subsided I was then left with anxiety, light headedness, dizziness, and mild headache and at times nausea. I call my doctor with these symptoms, he decided to keep me home for the rest of the week and said I should rest. However I noticed that I am still anxious, I was having a rapid pulse, I was waking up with light headache and a high blood pressure... My pulse was going up as high as 150 bpm... So far today the rapid heartbeat has calmed down. But I'm still feeling that foggy brain feeling. I feel as though I'm never going to feel normal again.. Not sure if this is all related to the Mirena but folks I haven't felt normal since I had it put in... I want to feel like my old self again... I don't feel right! Any suggestions???
