I have had mirena for over a year now, and thought things were going well I have not gained any weight although despite effects I have not lost any either. I have been tired but just thought it was stress and because my husband was on third shift so I was alone at night. Now about five months ago I developed a rash, went to the doctor got told it was an allergic reaction, took medicine (did not get rid of rash) went to and allergy doctor could not find anything I am allergic to (still have rash). And for the last month I have had horrible headaches and constant nausea (remindes me of motion sickness or morning sickness when i was pregnant) and had to be put on migraine medicine for my headaches (which does not seem to be helping). I never had headaches before, so then my doctor told me it could be side effects from the mirena. She said that even though they usually occure in the first few months and then tapper off that some people develop them later on. I should have known this because the reason I got the mirena was because i have had bad side effects to every other birth control medicine I have taken. It is only nature to assume I would have negative effects from this one also. But as many people have posted, every women is different not everyone has problem with it and I am not sure that is what is causing mine its just easy to blame them on that then to come up with something else. It could simply all be caused by stress.

This is a warning to those of you who are going off of Yasmin in an attempt to get pregnant! (along with a few other issues)

I was on Yasmin for almost 3 years, and I'd like to first say that I had SO many stomach issues since being on it that I had eventually been sent to a gastroenterologist by my GP. My gynecologist swore up and down that Yasmin could in no way be the reasoning for my stomach issues (nausea, motion sickness, diarrhea etc) however, I've recently gone off of Yasmin in an attempt to get pregnant. Here's where my huge problem comes into play... About a week and a half after going off of the pill I started having severe dizzy spells as well as fatigue. These symptoms persisted for the next 2 weeks or so and then about 4 days before I was supposed to get my period I started experiencing intense cramps. Of course my fiance and I were a little bit disappointed because this meant that those side effects meant we hadn't successfully conceived. So a few days go back, as does the usual Wednesday that I receive my period. So Thursday I decided to take a pregnancy test and to our complete and utter surprise it came out positive! We were so excited, as were our friends and families. So again, a few days go by (and I never got my period) and my cramps persisted night and day. Then I started experiencing sickness at night time when I tried to go to bed. We of course thought this was due to the pregnancy. Then Monday at about 4AM I woke up in complete and utter pain and went to the bathroom and came to find out I was bleeding. We completely panicked thinking I was miscarrying. I ended up spending that entire day in the hospital and later the next day we found out I was never pregnant. We had gone through a river of emotions within those 2 days and although we were very glad we hadn't miscarried, it was also devastating to realize we were not yet pregnant. False positives are very rare, and I'd have to say that they SUCK. So watch out girls, and make sure to go to the doctors for a blood test ASAP before getting too excited. Just wanted to let you all know.

As for us, we're going to keep on trying and hoping for the best. I of course never intend on going back on Yasmin as I've discovered I've been completely wasting my and my gastroenterologist's time due to this medication.

My doctor gave me 5 'samples' of Levaquin 750mg for a sinus infection.

2nd night I had frightening heart palpitations while sitting watching a movie with family. Later that night experienced insomnia, depression, body aches and extreme cold feeling all over despite blanket, comforter and furry throw.

3rd day I experieinced severe nausea, dizziness, over-heating, dry mouth, body pain, headaches and motion sickness on pubic transit about 2 hours after dosing. Almost passed out. Was shaking, feeling hypoglycemic. Curled in a ball praying by the end of the 45 minute bus ride.

Stopped for water and a bagel, thought it was awhile since I had eaten. 2 hours later after my appointment, same thing again o the bus ride home. Took me 2 hours to calm down.

Looked up side effects online and was shocked. My doctor knows I had a head/neck injury ( 3 dislocated vertebrae ), knows I have prescription Vicodin and Tylenol 3 for pain, but fortunately I only took one Tylenol 3 today and no Vicodin for weeks. But I did take Advil yesterday, another pain reliever my doctor knows I use, but conflicts with Levaquin.

Doctor also knows that I'm concerned about possible pre-diabetic condition as mother has developed type 2 diabetes.

Furthermore, he knows I have had bad experiences with previous prescription medications including asthma inhalers destroying tooth enamel and depression reactions to Singulair.

Apparently Levaquin and Singulair both have suicidal depression side-effects.

So why was this drug given to me?

Basically, who do I sue?

I've been on Nuvaring for 2 weeks now, put it in on the first day of my period. I was surprised, because my period was a bit different then normal, after three days it was like I wasn't even bleeding anymore, as opposed to normally having six days of bleeding/spotting. Since my period stopped though, I've been having this brownish discharge. At first I thought that my period / spotting was just extended because my body was adjusting to the ring. Then this past week, I've also started to feel really exhausted and have been having these bad headaches all week. I just blamed it all on stress from college and the city buses giving me motion sickness and the headaches; which made sense to me because I started Nuvaring my 2nd week back at college and the buses gave me headaches before. But they've been worse now, and last for hours and hours. I've been emotional, but again I just threw that under the "stress" category. I'm totally not so sure any more, I could easily see it being just stress and motion-sickness induced headaches; that'd made sense for me. But after reading this site... I'm questioning. Though thankfully, my strange discharge seems to be stopping. Anyone else have the discharge and it eventually stop after a while; before going off the ring?

19 years old; got first shot 09/04/07; became ill on 10/06/07, but did not suspect Gardasil; got second shot on 10/30/07. Symptoms: severe acid reflux, vomiting several times a day (every day for 9 weeks), motion sickness, dizziness, ear pain, recurring nausea, severe abdominal pain (especially just before and during menstruation), diarrhea (several times a day), extreme fatigue, weak/achy legs, muscle tenderness throughout the body, recurring headaches, intermittent back pain, weight loss of 25 lbs in 9 weeks. It was is if she had been poisoned. Unable to function; missed classes and had to resign from part-time job. Underwent numerous medical tests; all were normal. Tried several different medications; none were effective. Doctors believe she had an autoimmune reaction to the Gardasil vaccine. After 9 weeks, she recovered on her own. Thank God, she did not get third shot!!! Residual problem as of 08/08: extreme abdominal pains, cramping, and nausea each month during menstruation. Keeping our fingers crossed that there are no future complications.

Took Lisinopril for one week, this was the only medication I was on at the time. I experienced light headiness, dizziness, motion sickness, rapid heart beat, chest pain, shortness of breath, numbness in my hands and arms. I suffer from some sort of bowel disorder, I have anywhere from 6 to 12 bowel movements a day normally, Lisinopril disrupted my bowels - they became totally unpredictable - make for the worse week of my life. My mother died the month before and I was already depressed, under enormous stress and most likely suffering from some sort of trauma disorder (PTSD) from watching my mother die in ICU screaming for 42 day. I became suicidal, to the point of sticking the gun in my mouth and cocking it. Guess I just don't have the guts to pull the trigger. I can sincerely say Lisinopril has changed me and it ain't for the better.

I am about 8 weeks pregnant and was prescribed Zofran by my ob/gyn for severe nausea. I bragged on the drug after the 1st dose because I felt wonderful. I was prescribed every 8 hours as needed. The first pill I took on a Tuesday night, the second on Thursday night when I developed severe motion sickness, the third on Friday (by then I could not stand to move around). By Monday of the next week I felt as if I was going to explode. I was extremely miserable. I realized that I felt worse after the Zofran because of severe constipation. I felt as if everything I had eaten for the last week was just sitting in my stomach. I had nausea, dizziness, headaches, indigestion w/reflux, excessive gas and bloating, and a horrible taste in my mouth. I stopped taking the Zofran and used an enema and prune juice to clear my system. Some how, compare to how the Zofran made me feel the nausea doesn't seem so bad!

I have waited long enough to tell my story. I am a 29 yr old single mother of 3. I started YAZ in Feb of 2008. I took it for 11 days. ELEVEN DAYS. It was about 4 days in that the headaches started. I couldn't stand light, I wore hoodies and sunglasses. I was nauseated. Saw double, black spots. Motion sickness.I could barely make it to work. I was out of control. I did not have control over my mind. I was crazy. My friend almost took me to the hospital to have me committed. There is no history of this in me or my family. The headaches would last from the time I woke up til the time I would go to sleep. Painkillers was the only thing that would keep me asleep through the pain. My dr immediately stop the the pills. I saw an eye doctor and they found nothing. They ordered an MRI. They found T2 Foci scattered throughout my brain. VERY unusual in someone my age. What that is, is my protective covering of my brain cells had been damaged there were gaps in its covering. I soon developed a stutter and a slur in my speech. The pain then moved throughout my whole body. They said fibromyalga and daily migraines. I'm now on topamax daily which gives me breaks in my headaches. I still get them daily. I still have pain in my body daily and I'm on painkillers daily. I have found a new dr who is wonderful. Who has recently taken blood. Who thinks that maybe it could be lupus. So I started researching Lupus...my symptoms and rashes match up. There is also a DRUG INDUCED LUPUS. and ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES is a KNOWN drug that can cause this!!! BUT IS THAT ON THE LABEL???? NOOOOOOOO!!! I was perfectly healthy before yaz, in kick boxing and now I walk and have the memory of a 60 yr old and my brain is permanently damaged. I have another MRI coming up to find out if there is more damage and I will find out the results of the blood work to find out what is wrong with me...but I blame all of this on YAZ and I hold them responsible. I SAY CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT....just have to find a firm with big enough BALLS to do it!!!

Ok, with all psych drugs, you're a damed zombie for the first 6-8 weeks. I know that & am willing to accept a little nausea, being a box of rocks mentally, and not being able to find my shoes for the first 6-8 weeks. If things continue after that point in time, I drop the med. Well, I dropped wellbutrin, and this is why:

The nausea never stopped. In fact, it increased.

The first few days, I thought it was just stomach upset. No big. Take with milk & bread. We all know that trick, right? But, it got worse. Days later, I started dry heaving on the way to class. This became a regular thing- walking caused nausea. Then it got even worse, standing still or sitting started to feel like I was on a tiny rowboat in a storm on the high seas. Extreme nausea, frequent dry heaving, unable to keep down food or water, disorientation (literally severe motion sickness on dry land). After dropping 15lbs & becoming dehydrated, I gave up for my own physical safety. I stopped taking the stuff. It took about a month to recover from the stuff.

Now, I have friends that wellbutrin has been a godsend for. But, this stuff really messed with me. So, be careful when taking it. Give it a fair shot. But, know thy body.

PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING LUPRON DEPOT:
Hey there, I just thought I would add my experiences with the drug for everyone. I am a 25 year old with stage IV endo. I have already done a Laparoscopy and removed some of my endo. Started the Lupron on a six month treatment. My doctor said I would probably lose my period in a couple of months... well, I was due for my period two weeks after first shot and I didn't get it. I didn't have a period from then on.

This drug is great for only one thing: pain removal. It's been great for this aspect. I was in SO much pain that it was unbearable, but the Lupron Depot shots REALLY helped with this. No pain whatsoever.

HOWEVER:
Side effects: Wow...these are extreme!

WEIGHT GAIN:
Now, I am a very healthy person. I was a college cheerleader and in shape. I eat well and exercise very regularly. This did not help one bit after taking the shots! Within six months I have put on 30 pounds!!! And this is even though I am still exercising more than ever and eating amazingly! It just doesn't seem to matter.

HOT FLASHES:
My hot flashes are severe. I carry a fan with me everywhere I go--and use it all the time. They can come on me so sudden. Sometimes they are based on emotions (e.g. if I get nervous or excited or sad...they come on really strong).

NIGHT SWEATS:
Um, yeah...it's gross. I keep a fan on my face, the window open, barely any clothes on, no covers...and I still sweat!!!!!

INSOMNIA:
I have not had too many good night sleeps since I started the shots. I will say though that as long as I am kept cool through the night then I have a better chance of sleeping well

NAUSEA:
It's strange, but I never get nauseous...not even from motion sickness, but I have been starting on the last shot of the treatment. It was so bad that I would throw up!

One last thing, I tend to have a messed up equilibrium a bit. Seriously, I find myself walking crooked all the time!

On a whole the best I can say is that this drug makes you feel like it's not really your body. I kind of feel like my body has the flu or something.....it just feels weird and strange all the time. You can tell your body is all screwed up.

Other than that I haven't had anything else.

This drug is GREAT for pain removal and it's also nice to not deal with a period for a while, but the other side effects are so horrible that I would rather deal with the pain.

I just pray that the weight I gained will come off after the estrogen returns to my body....

I have been on Yasmin for 2 1/2 years and off of it for 5 months. The only side effects I experienced when going on the pill were thinning hair, severe depression (and I do mean SEVERE) mood swings, panic attacks and bad anxiety attacks. I've always been a very social person and never had problems like this before. I felt as if i was living my whole life in a cloud. My husband and I decided that I should get off of them. However the side effects of discontinuing Yasmin have been worse. I have been sick for the past 1 1/2 months with what I thought was bad food poisoning and gastroenteritis. But now that I have read your other posts I realize that it's all side effects. I went to ER twice, the first time told me that my potassium levels were extremely low (and no I don't have kidney problems) and I was dehydrated. I had severe diarhea, severe nausea, depression, I felt like my whole body was shaking, and I felt like I was going crazy. I hadn't had much of an appetite which is very unusual for me. I got my period on time the first month after stopping, but then my 4th and 5th month I was 2 weeks late both times. I've never had irregular periods since I started at age 12. I'm still dealing with dizziness, motion sickness, anxiety depression. I occasionally have nausea in the mornings and afternoons. When they tell you that your body returns to normal about 3 months after you stop taking it, is not true. I'm into my 6th month and I still do not feel like myself. I'm so glad I found this website because it's literally like I'm reading my own testimonial because all of our symptoms are so much alike. I will never take the pill again. Thank you for all of your posts regarding this and hopefully everyone is on the road to recovery from taking this pill.

I was prescribed Yasmin almost 4 years ago after complaining to my Gyn about side effects of all the other pills i'd tried in the past (and the Depo shot, which was awful). She said women who have trouble with other ones, sometimes do well on Yasmin. For a couple years, I loved this pill, and experienced only one side-effect: loss of body hair (I was excessively hairy and this was a plus for me). However, over the past couple years, I have gained some weight and have developed some other issues. I'm not sure if they're all attributed to Yasmin, but here they are: extreme motion sickness and dizzyness, heart palpitations, periods of shortness of breath, intolerance for fatty foods, trouble sleeping and once when i started taking glucosamine for my joints (I'm a runner) I developed severe leg and muscle cramps and extreme thirst... perhaps messed up potassium levels? I'm curious if anyone else has had these problems, especially the motion sickness, which has become a serious problem for me.

Hi All!

Just wanted to let you know that I went to the gyno Tuesday, he said that it is a rare case that my body would react that way to BC but that it is definitely possible. He wants me to stay off all hormonal tx for a few months to see if I go back to normal. He also found that I had a vaginal bacterial infection and perscribed Flagyl (Metronidazol). I took one pill and found out that I am allergic to it. Got little tiny bumps all over my face, shoulders, chest, and stomach. As far as any symptoms recently...I had headaches the first 2 days I was supposed to go back on the pill but they are gone, the motion sickness is gone, I am still somewhat tired but Overall feel wonderful. It's only been 2 weeks since I went off and I am definitely seeing great results. Hope all goes well for everyone else. Stick it out and keep your chins up!

I have read most of these complaints and I am wondering if Lisinopril is causing some problems I have been having. I am a 49 year-old female, and I suffered a heart attack in May of this year (2005.) I had heart bypass surgery(5 bypasses) and have also had to have a stint. I am diabetic and on insulin for blood sugar control. High blood pressure runs in the women in my family and I have had essential hypertension for years. I have been on Lisinopril since May. Lately, I have been suffering from frontal headaches, severe dizziness and nausea. I get so tired I have to lay down and my legs feel like lead weights. Last couple weeks I have had lower back pain. I feel terrible. I get nauseated, like motion sickness when I get on the computer and when I ride in a car. I've never had that in my life. I feel my symptoms are related to one of the meds I take. I feel sure it's not the ones I took before my heart attack since I had no problems with them ( plavix and aspirin.) I have also taken Lopressor years ago and didn't have these side effects from that. I am taking Lopressor and Lisinopril for blood pressure. I am going to call the doc in the morning because something is making me really sick and I can't even function. I've had to stop my cardiac rehab class, I'm lucky to even ride in a car lately.

I originally took Zoloft for anxiety and stress, but the drug seemed to intensify my anxiety to the point of having frequent panic attacks. I took 25mg for a week- and 50mg for two weeks. During that time I had frequent headaches, and a feeling of motion sickness / dizzy rapidly moving backwards sensation.

After the third day of taking the 25's- I passed out while getting X-rays- I was rushed to the hospital with very low blood pressure- although my blood sugar levels and AKG were both fine. After several hours I was released and told it was just a form of anxiety and my body's biological reaction to perceived fear. I continued to take Zoloft based on the doctor's in the emergency room's recommendation. I also had sleeplessness, a high frequency of dreams, and very bad teeth grinding (to the point where my jaw aches)

Exactly two weeks after taking the 50mg dose- I had a severe panic attack while driving my car- I felt as though I were going to pass out- arms went numb, I got the adrenaline shakes. I missed work because of it. My doctor's office told me to stop taking it immediately but after taking to a pharmacist- she said it will take up to two weeks to get out of my system and that panic attacks are a possible side affect. Since I stopped taking it- I am very anxious all the time and have moments of very high anxiety while driving. I wake up feeling nausea and weakness in my legs. I am now taking Zanax to counter the panic attacks until the Zoloft gets out of my system.

The most discouraging part of this whole experience is that I was seeking treatment for stress and anxiety- and now I am loving with horrible panic attacks. The drug had the completely opposite affect of it's intended use.

My 8 year old daughter was prescribed a low-dose of Reglan each night at bedtime to prevent morning nausea and motion sickness. For that it worked. Unfortunately, over time she became more and more "worried' then "anxious" and even developed obsessive-compulsive symptoms and became nearly psychotic. The doc who prescribed it did mention to look for "tics" but not anxiety (altho he did confirm later that it "occassionally" occurs). She was on it for three weeks before we made the connection. The psychiatrist refused to entertain the thought that her psychiatric problems were due to Reglan reaction, but after consulting other physicians and researching internet sites, we were convinced this is what she indeed suffered. It took nearly three months for her anxiety to completely vanish and I am happy to say, she is fine now. Her stomach aches come and go, but treatment with diet and allergy elimation seems to help. This drug can be dangerous but doctors should be better informed and equiped to deal with a very-real side-effect.

I was extremely nauseated and will never take this drug again. The nausea resembled a severe motion sickness. The drug also required almost 24 hours to clear my system. I am not on any know interfering drugs, but also have an intolerance for codeine products.

Ultracet for back pain, made the pain diminish, but Oh, brother--what side effects! I experienced extreme Nausea and dizziness unlike I've had with any other medicine other than codeine. I am allergice to codeine and asked the Dr. if Ultracet contained codeine and he assured me it did not--but I am wondering, because I am having the same symptoms with Ultracet as I would with Codeine. It is nearly impossible to drive or work while on the stuff, as it makes you feel like you are having severe Motion sickness all the time. If anyone has the opportunity, please tell your Dr. 'NO ULTRACET'.
